Guest guest
Regarding Peri menopausal symptoms, depression is commonly linked to the drop in estrogen as women approach menopause. Please read the book Silent Passage by Gail Sheehy. " Lamentably, few doctors are well informed about menopause, and many assume the vaguely described symptoms are psychological in nature. Since physicians are temperamentally disposed to helping people, they, too, feel frustrated at the state of scientific ignorance about women's health in the middle years. " You don't need to know about that yet " is one standard answer women are given. The doctor pats her on the head, and out the door she goes with her migrainous headaches, ill-defined blues, or unexplained fatigue--what could it be? More commonly she won't even bring up menopause, and her gynecologist won't either. Some women spend the next three or five years making the rounds of internists, neurologists, even psychiatrists, with no resolution because they all ignore the obvious " (The Silent Passage, start of chapter " Doctors Still in the Dark Ages " ) --- lagagen <lagagen wrote: > Hi All: I am new to this site. Guest guest
Actually, what you need to read is one of Dr. John Lee's books, or go to http://www.hormoneprofile.com , for starters. A woman's body produces estrogen throughout her life - in fat cells. Very few women need additional estrogen, in fact most of us with perimenopausal, or menopausal, symptoms such as depression, anxiety, weight gain, etc., - the symptoms are caused by estrogen dominance - too much free floating estrogen without enough progesterone to balance it. Our bodies stop producing progesterone by menopause - a gradual decline starting already in late twenties. What is needed is a progesterone creme in a form your body can use it. It is fairly expensive, but you need to use only a very small amount. If I had known this earlier, it would have saved me a ton of pain and distress starting in my twenties. In fact, I would also have used it as a teenager, prior to the correct balance of progesterone and estrogen settling in - estrogen starts upswing sooner than progesterone, causes much problems with emotional swings and cramping and such, even prior to onset of menstrual cycle. By 40's many of us are producing next to no progesterone, and the estrogen is out of control in our bodies, even though we are producing less of it as well. I tried using wild yam, did no good, my body can't make use of it in that form. Then I found Dr. Lee's books, and my life improved by about 200 per cent. Please check it out, I don't know how many women I know for whom this has been a life saver. Joy - A. S.
