One of the hottest fields of advancement is understanding the biochemical

aspects

of mental health problems, and their correction with an optimum nutrition

approach.

 

Whether or not you treat patients using nutritional intervention, no-one is

the

field of mental health can afford to ignore the tell-tale signs of

biochemical

imbalance that mean a particular individual in likely to respond positively

to

nutritional intervention.

Speakers:

 

We invite you to learn about the optimum nutrition approach to mental health

problems from leaders in this field:

 

Tapan Audhya PhD Professor, New York University Medical Center, NY and, Research & Development, Vitamin Diagnostics, NJ. His research

interests include neuro-endocrinology, nutritional biochemistry and in

diseases

related to metabolic disorders. He has published over 170 articles in

refereed journals

and in book chapters.

 

Teodoro Bottiglieri PhD is an Associate Professor of Neuropharmacology

at

Baylor University Medical Center, Institute of Metabolic Disease in

Dallas,Texas. He

has been on the cutting edge of research into folate, B12, homocysteine and

methylation across a range of mental health problems.

 

Deborah Colson DipION is a nutritional therapist working at the

forefront of

mental health as a clinician at the Brain Bio Centre in London. She gives

regular

talks and contributes to a number of specialist publications.

 

Dr Barry Durrant-Peatfield MB, BS, LRCP, MRCS specialised in thyroid and

adrenal disorders for over 20 years at his clinic in Surrey. Passionate

about

correct diagnosis and treatment of thyroid illness and its complications,

his book

The Great Thyroid Scandal and How to Survive It has received worldwide

acclaim.

 

Dr Abram Hoffer MD, PhD, former psychiatric research director for

Saskatchewan

Canada, and president of the Canadian Schizophrenia Foundation, has fifty

years

experience treating over 4,000 people diagnosed with schizophrenia. Since

1955 he

has published 19 books and 600 papers in medical journals.

 

Patrick Holford BSc, DipION, psychologist, nutritionist and founder of

the

Institute for Optimum Nutrition, has pioneered the optimum nutrition

approach to

mental health for 20 years. He is author of 20 books including Optimum

Nutrition for

the Mind.

 

Dr Andrew McCaddon MRGCP is a GP in North Wales who specialises in the

treatment of dementia and has carried out original research, at the

University of Wales College of Medicine, into the link between dementia,

homocysteine and methylation problems, and their correction using

nutritional intervention.

 

Dr Mary Megson MD, FAAP is a developmental pediatrician and a Fellow of

the

American Academy of Pediatrics. Her practice is devoted to diagnosing and

treating

developmentally delayed children. She has conducted original research into

G-alpha

protein defects as a high-risk factor for developing autism and how to

correct this

using nutritional intervention.

 

Jane Nodder DipION, nutritional therapist, student tutor and lecturer,

has a

special interest in nutritional interventions for eating disorders and

weight

management. She has worked on the development of the NICE clinical

guidelines for

eating disorders and regularly facilitates training seminars for health

professionals in this field.

 

Lorraine Perretta DipION is Senior Clinical Nutritionist at the Brain

Bio

Centre in London. She has specialised in the nutritional treatment of mental

health

problems for the past seven years and is author of the book, Brain Food.

Lorraine is

an international speaker and is a frequent contributor to consumer magazines

such as

Vogue and HQ.

 

Alex Richardson PhD is Senior Research Fellow at Mansfield College and

University Laboratory of Physiology, Oxford, where she pioneers research

into

essential fats and mental health across a wide range of conditions.

 

Professor André Tylee MBBS, MD, FRCGP, MRCPsych, Professor of primary

care

mental health, from the Institute of Psychiatry, and Chairman of the Primary

Care

Mental Health Board of the National Institute for Mental Health in England

(NIMHE).

His role is to research and educate all doctors in the treatment of mental

health

patients.

 

Peter Willatts PhD is a Senior Lecturer in Developmental Psychology at

the

University of Dundee. He has published widely on the topic of cognitive

development

in infants and young children and has completed a series of studies

investigating

the role of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids in infant cognitive

development.
