Are you interested in learning about this new language?

You should be,knowing that these new words could protect you from a

heart attack, kill pain in your body, and prevent or reverse ADD,

depression, bipolar

disorder, or schizophrenia.

 

First a quick translation...EFA stands for " Essential Fatty Acid " .

 

DHA and EPA define specific types of omega-3 fatty acids found in

fish oils.

 

GLA (gamma linolenic acid) is a separate but extremely

important form of essential fatty acid derived from plants.

 

DHA and EPA reduce heart disease. These Omega-3 fatty acids derived

from certain oily fish such as alaskan salmon, cod, mackerel, and

herring

stimulate increased liver production of high density lipoprotein

(HDL) cholesterol, which controls (bad) LDL cholesterol and keeps it

at bay!

 

Essential Fatty Acids are needed to make Cell Membranes.

 

They have a strong anti-inflammatory component beneficial for

inflammatory bowel diseases such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn's

disease.

 

We have known for many years that EFAs are important in the

healthy development of the brain and central nervous system.

 

Many studies indicate that depressed patients have decreased levels

of

essential fatty acids such as the omega-3s.

 

Specifically, it was the DHA that seemed to be depleted in persons

afflicted with depression.

A mental disorder known as bipolar

disorder shows marked improvement when given omega-3 fatty acids.

 

The omega-3 fatty acids seemed to act like the prescription

medicines Lithium and Valproate.

In this study, both EPA and DHA had the same effects.

 

There is some suggestion that they may be beneficial in panic

or anxiety attacks as well because they normalize a process known

as " neuronal signal transduction pathways. "

 

The essential fatty acids, a set amount every day,(2,000 mgs of

marine oil, consisting of 600 mg. of EPA and DHA, combined with 90

mgs. of GLA daily highly benefit those with bipolar disease.

You may take up to 4-6 grams of EPA and DHA daily.

 

Essential fatty acids also reduce common breast pain associated with

menstrual periods.

Some women experience relief if they increase the amount of

essential fatty acids 7-10 days prior to starting their period.
