Guest guest
Hi, now that I've lurked around a bit, I thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Rhi, I'm a 33 y.o. mother of 2 teenaged daughters and wife of an awesome man who is in the Air Force. As a family we always try to seek alternatives to traditional medicine before running off to the doctor, but we are pretty new to doing this. We've been moving toward alternative healing for about the past 4 years. My question is this: Does anyone know of anything that will help to ease the pain of, and to heal injury to the ligaments in the knee? At this point, poultices of comfrey have been helping a bit and alternating heat and cold help too, along with fresh feverfew to help with pain. Perhaps I'm a bit spoiled and whiny but right now, nothing seems to help and I'm still a bit of a chicken about some things like acupuncture. -- Rhi ===== Owner - Ancient Myst and cohort of: Green Goddess Ear Candles " ... This in addition to maximum amounts of some other minerals helped to alleviate his leg pain. After taking these supplements over a period of about 4 to 6 weeks time, his pain completely disappeared. He also took magnesium supplements (400mg 2x daily),B-complex, and E (one of each of their E blends daily)in addition to zinc and selenium, their very best antioxidant and we followed an all organic diet rich in organic veggies, fruits, nuts and smoothies, not to mention extra virgin olive oil! :-) I am told these products (standard process) can only be purchased at a few select health food stores (You have to specifically ask for them) or they can be obtained from some health professionals (N.D. or chiropractor, etc). I was lucky, my son obtained them for us. I also had a knee injury five years previous to this from a slip and fall incident. Both my knees where implicated, however my right knee would not bear any weight. They dx'd it as a meniscus tear to the knee and sent me home with some pain killers. Needless to say I did not take the painkillers, not even one, and just managed my pain with supplements and nutrition (bromelain in pineapple, turmeric, willow bark, capsicum, ginger and other herbal remedies). At this time I was in the process of changing my diet due to some other health problems that had recently surfaced.Much to my surprise I found that over a period of time, the knee problems just disappeared along with all my other health concerns, just from changing over to a more healthy organic dairy-free diet. Dairy especially non-organic dairy, adversely affects ligaments, muscles and bones(mainly from an overabundance of synthetic hormones and antibiotics they contain).Eliminating refined sugars, carbonated drinks, coffee and other dehydrating beverages helps to build up the immune system as well, which provides our body with the ability to repair itself. The therapist told my husband that his muscles were so weak and his bones were so damaged and brittle,...Now I know it was from all the milk and carbonated beverages(high in phosphorus and low in important minerals to rebuild damaged tissue) that his bones would not even support his muscles, which led to excruciating leg pain. He was not able to walk, sit or lie down without extra effort and extreme pain! This continued on for about the space of two months. Therapy did not correct the problems. He was led from specialist to specialist with no answers! Every test came back negative. Supplements are the only answer in my opinion. The correct supplements, in addition to an all organic diet is the CURE. We have observed it, over and over again! Best Regards, JoAnn .. Guest guest
Thank you both for some really insightful answers. The knee was injured in a fall and was diagnosed by of all things a military doctor who also wanted to just put me on pain killers and send me home. That was 3 months ago and everything that the Dr. suggested I do only made things worse. So, I'm in the process of changing my diet which is not easy since I'm in the car about 5 hours every day for work and the rest of it I'm with customers. I've added some extra exercise (walking about 2 miles every day)which so far has been the biggest help. Thanks again.
