(1) THE LATEST NEWS about research experiments on

PSYCHIATRIC DRUG IMPLANTS, and growing opposition.

 

Philadelphia researchers are going ahead with plans to

develop implantable disks that time-release powerful

psychiatric drugs for up to a year. MindFreedom has

said, " This new technology is inherently coercive in

today's mental health system human rights disaster. "

by researchers of this experimental psychiatric drug

(2) THIS HALLOWEEN 2003 -- Speak out about how

psychiatry's human rights violations can be terrorism!

 

On 31 October 2003, MindFreedom members will

speak out in Boston... Washington, D.C.... Switzerland...

and elsewhere about the emergency of human rights

violations in the mental health system.

 

MindFreedom members from the Freedom Center

will protest the American Psychiatric Association

Fall meeting in Boston at noon.

 

David Oaks and Judi Chamberlin from MindFreedom

will bring up human rights concerns at a World Health

Organization meeting in Geneva, Switzerland.

(3) TODAY, the prestigious human rights organization

HUMAN RIGHTS WATCH issued a special report about

USA prisons, mental health and human rights. MindFreedom

has sent out an alert opposing HRW's main recommendation,

which is to support more " mental health courts. "

 

MindFreedom is concerned HRW's report will simply

change metal prisons into chemical prisons. For more:

(4) THE AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION asked MindFreedom

to organize an opposition statement about electroshock for

an on-line debate the AMA is sponsoring on ethics of shock.
