Guest guest
>I believe that poverty is one of the biggest reason for poor health.> May I Disagree! Especially for the USA. I know many middle class people who promptly go to sleep or ignore me if I mention nutrition. Some have College Degrees: One Example: In my small community over 100 miles from any larger community, there are three or four brands of yogurt for sale in the markets. Now explain this one---- Seldom do I find the small cups of " Plain " Yogurt available from the many other varieties on the shelf. There may be 300 small cups of sugar laden; But none of the plain! Meaning that flavored yogurt has so much sugar in it that it defeats the purpose of eating yogurt but the local residents do not buy plain; They buy the sugared! +6 yn km I have to buy the large quart size to obtain plain Yogurt. Because the Market does not sell enough " plain " to bother keeping it on the shelf. Therefore I propose that conventional ignorance is the biggest reason for poor health in the USA. For me it started in the third Grade: My Father and I were raising 100 chickens at a time for the market. When I said anything at School about Chicken diseases or Chicken nutrition----- I was teased and ridiculed. This continued until College. The average person does not want to hear about disease or nutrition. In Chickens or anything else; until their Kids get sick; Then a few may listen. How many million people live in the USA and how many have Computers AND HOW MANY read A LIST ABOUT HEALTH? A tiny, tiny fraction ever read these lists! I feel that the middle class is consciously ignoring good health practice and loading up on sugar. I do the grocery shopping for my family: Looking at the shopping baskets of other shoppers; It is hard to understand how some people survive on the expensive adulterated stuff they buy to eat. The next statistic to look at is: Are the baby boomers dying before their parents? One article about Japanese farmers noted this. I have visited three third world countries and I saw many healthy poverty stricken people----However I also saw many malnourished poverty stricken people also in these areas-- in the Cities. Especially if meat is expensive. (Go visit Haiti it is the worst!) Best Regards, Lorenzo --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).
