Guest guest
If you are going to continue to feed the candida with sugar, I am not real sure what benefit supplements will do. You can start by doing a series of searches thru all the old messages at for candida and for each of the eating disorders you have. Guest guest
Phillipa I have used fresh squeezed lemon juice in water everyday and I found this helped with candida issues. The other possability is to slowly cut down on one item that is not good for you, and then pick an item that is good for you and add it to your daily food intake...remember pick just one item so your body doesn't rebel so much. Kathy ---- Thursday, October 02, 2003 3:29:51 AM candida Hello Alobar, It is impossible for me to do the anti-candida diet which I have read about (no sugar, yeast, fruit) because I have had eating disorders for 13 years and any attempt to restrict what I can and can't eat causes a rapid and severe relapse. Philippa What is impossible about the anti-candida diet, Philippa? Exactly what diet are you talking about? Alobar
Guest guest
Philippa: In my 20's, I was aware that food was making me sick, so I severely restricted my food intake--seemed logical, but others thought it was anorexia. Have to admit, my weight went down to 102 lbs. Some years later, I learned about the yeast connection. Getting diagnosis is all but impossible. Yes, approaching a diet, which is restrictive of yeast-feeding foods, parallels restricting food, period. Are you able to approach the goal of getting better through diet, as " expanding your repertoire " , getting more variety in your meals, making different choices. Some of us can get stuck eating the same thing almost every day. Deciding to make meals more interesting is a different headspace. Sugar is addictive, but cravings for sugar & simple carbs does diminish--especially if you're full. I find stevia (hot chocolate, stevia-sweetened, satisfies the sugar craving for me) can get me over the hump. There are fruits that have lower sugar content, if you must. Having an alternative snack available can be helpful (what are your favourites?--I like corn chips). Maybe think about how you can expand your diet. I know a girl who has done amazing things with her anorexia, through an exercise program. Also, she wanted to show some muscle (I always asked to feel her bicep), so she increased her protein intake, while maintaining the control she felt she needed. I'm still fighting the yeast problem, having " sugar slips " too. Having a good variety in my groceries, some mixed nuts and corn chips for a treat, satisfies me mostly. " I can't have " is a different headspace from " MMMM..salted cachews!--big bag in the cupboard. " Too many carbs, maybe not great, but better than a hunk of apple pie (and the consequences). Atkins Diet has some good treat clues, try some fancy cheeses, or even some whipping cream with slivered almonds (better than ice cream!). Hope this is helpful. Guest guest
Hi Alobar That's not very encouraging. I do feel it is worth taking supplements anyway, as an attempt to control this problem. Guest guest
Supplements are meant to supplement a good diet, not take the place of a good diet. By all means experiment. But there is little research that I know to give you a good starting point. The archives are filled with information of most every sort. Normally, I would advise vitamin C to bowel tolerance, but can your system handle that? Maybe with buffered C like Calcium Ascorbate. But I cannot say for sure. None of us can really advise under the best of circumstances. It all comes back each of us doing research, figuring things out for ourselves, then sharing what we learn with the group. But if you have a diet which is feeding the candida, I would not know where to start -- other than changing your diet. It is still unclear to me what it is about your diet which prevents you from changing it.
