Guest guest
Stevia - the whole plant matter, not the whitish extract, is reported by South American countries to have this effect. It is helpful for me. Also eating low-carbohydrate, no refined or processed foods, is helpful for me. Extremely so. I eat six mini-meals a day that each contain low-fat protein, whole grains and/or veggies and a little bit of healthy fat (such as olive oil) and totally stay away from sugars, other refined carbs and caffeine. Guest guest
Good morning Rev. Jeff, and all... do a search on bitter melon, gymnea sylvestre, GLA, Evening Primrose oil, and borage seed oil. I have diabetes, and diet (no sugar, no caffeine, no dairy, no meat) and a combination of the above keeps my sugar in check. windflower revjeffpsychic <.net> (wanted to advertise with his signature and is no longer a member): I have hypoglycemia (my mother has diabetes) and have a real problem trying to keep my blood sugar in balance. I suffer from horrible mood swings, shaking and weakness when my blood sugar drops. Does anyone know of any therapies (herbs, vitamins, whatever) that help to control blood sugar/help hypoglycemia??? Guest guest
I recommend eating the most complex of carbs, and limit them. I eat fruit, veggies, beans, legumes, and very little grain. Stay away from fats, as in animal fats, except as in lean chicken/turkey breast, red sockeye Alaskan salmon in the can, olives in moderation, and avocado. When I eat more simple carbs, as in sugar and breads, I will get low blood sugar if i don't feed myself often. After I am off the carbs for a few days, I am home free. Guest guest
I was diagnosed a diabetic 2 years ago with a fasting blood glucose level of over 360. Initially I took prescription drugs (which I hated! -- because of the nasty side effects). After some research I discovered that the recommended ADA diet had way too many carbos for health. Now I am controlling blood glucose levels (usually between 105-120 these days for fasting glucose levels -- anything under 127 is considered ok for diabetics) thru diet & supplementation alone. I stay away from grains except for bread once a week. No sugar, no msg, very little bottled sauces, no canned goods or prepared meals in a box. All food cooked fresh. No pasta, beans, or other starchy veggies. I eat a potato less than once a month. I eat fruit in moderation, plenty of leafy greens, meat & animal fats (butter, fat on meat), fish. I make a smoothie every day with plenty of fiber in with the fruit. Dairy is organic. Meat is pesticide free & hormone free (I cannot find organic meats). I supplement with alpha lipoic acid, ginseng, gourdin (a sub-lingual form of bitter melon), vitamin C to bowel tolerance, niacinamide, as well as all the other vitamins and supplements I am taking for other reasons. My last meal of the day is a can of coconut milk or some coconut oil mixed with ground nuts. It provides calories but little carbohydrates. The coconut milk has lowered my fasting blood glucose levels about 10-15 points. Lots of fiber is crucial when eating fruit to moderate the glucose spike.
