Guest guest
Would welcome comments from the group as to whether I should be concerned. I have donated blood regularly for years to our local Red Cross. They have just sent me a letter saying that when my blood was tested on the last visit the test showed the presence of red cell antibodies, and that I must now carry a Antibody Register Card in case I ever have to have a transfusion. They also tell me that antibodies are usually formed during pregnancy or after a blood transfusion, but some occur without any known cause. Well it is 37 years since I was last pregnant and I have never had a blood transfusion. I am blood type O positive. The card says antibodies present are: Anti - Fya. I know white cell antibodies are the ones to be concerned about, but I still wonder why this has happened.
