Psychiatric Implant News

Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania are experimenting with

surgically-implantable discs containing pellets capable of time-releasing

super-powerful neuroleptic psychiatric drugs for up to a year.

This is no made-up conspiracy theory from the fringe. The Boston Globe and The

Washington Post have run stories on the implant debate. (Click link above to go

to website and use further links.)

26 September 2003 Boston Globe article about psychiatric drug implant debate in

Philadelphia. MindFreedom director calls implants " a prettier lobotomy. "

16 November 2002 Washington Post article.

Watch this page for coverage of the 25 Sept. " debate " sponsored by implant

researchers. Pat Deegan, PhD represented MindFreedom at the Philly forum, and

she brought back photos and quotes that will be on this web site in a few days.

Keep checking.

Lead researcher Steven Siegel, MD, PhD said the intent of their experiments is

to increase client compliance with taking neuroleptics, which for the past 50

years is the main family of drugs prescribed to people labeled " schizophrenic. "

Neuroleptics include Thorazine, Prolixin, Clozapine, Risperdal, Zyprexa, and

dozens of others. The neuroleptic used in the experimental implants is Haldol.

Neuroleptics are so powerful that mainstream medicine now admits they can lead

to structural changes in the brain so severe as to be visible in MRI and CT

scans.
