Guest guest
Dear Group, I am glad that most of you like the group and I would like to take a moment and clarify a few things about it though. If we all know what is what we can get along better and be more of a help to each other too. We have our own rules and way of doing things here. It has nothing to do with what other groups do or don't do. Anyone can post. Anyone can post if you post something that is of interesting, worthwhile or informative. This group is moderated. Your membership does not come with an unlimited access to post to the board. It must pass the smell test with one of the moderators. Is it information, even though we may not agree with any or all points of the message? Is it more than some gratuitous remark that means little to anyone ,but just a chance to say something for your own pleasure or to show your signature again to the group. If it falls into that category, it probably will not make it to the noard. I would like for all to feel that this is their home too, but most come here wanting something and do not put much thought into giving anything back. Promoting their business. Learning alternative health, something. Almost none comes here with the intention of oh, here is a way to give or help. You can get alot of information here. You can give back too. That is the way it is supposed to work here, but unfortunately there is no scarcity of of the gimmes and not enough of the givees. Sometimes that is situational for the moment, sometimes it is a character trait. We get a lot of people who come here and think they have the right to tell us what we should do about most anything. They didn't start the group, they didn't post many messages, they don't help out in hardly any manner, but because they are a member they somehow get the idea, that they can dictate what is posted , what I should do, and how I should do it. It usually revolves around there personal wishes. You are here as a guest. Please try and think in those terms when you think of what to do and how to act. A great many members have been removed from this group who only saw it as a venue for what they wanted and only concerned with their own personal interests. We do read and think about any honest suggestion though. If you have a real desire to learn and to share what you learn with others, you will be able to post almost anything. We have a few moderators here. Usually thereis not a big delay in messages being processed. Sometimes allof us are busy doing something else and it can happen that there may be a delay once in a while. I expect you to know that and be understanding. The group is also to help each other find information about health isssues. If you have a health issue and want help, please pose your need here, but and yjis is a big but, you are expected to do somethings yourself. You are expected to search the archives for information and read it first. You are expected to search the new message baords first before you expect someone else to reseach it for you and find what you need to know. If you are serious about wanting to learn and find out what is what, you would be glad to have those resources and be glad to use them. If you haven't done those things first, why do you expect us to care more than you care yourself.Or to do the work that you don't want to do. We usually get a lot of messages on this board. We do not have the time nor the space to post messages that is basically chit chat. If it is to thank someone, send him/her a private email, otherwise you are sending it also to 1200 others who already get too many emails. You can have a signature on your postings, but the longer the signature the long and better information is required to post. No six line signatures and a 5 word posting. Most 2 ,3 or 10 word post are not acceptable here. If you have something to say, it needs to be fully explained or an article included. Most opinions do not quialify. You will say, yes, but I have read some posts here that weren't what you have described here. That is true, but did you find them informative? Would you like to receive about 200 of those a day? You must consider others whaen you think in terms of this group. If you do that you should fit in well. Once in a while, I get an email that says that I must do something or a threat that this person will leave the group. I do not respond well to threats. I usually just ban them at that time. They don't understand the first things about this group. It isnoncommercial. I get paid the same whether we have 10 membes or 1200. Nothing. It is not the size that counts. It is the content and the attitude. I started this group to give me somewhere to go and to a group that I like. And to be a place for like minded individuals. That is important,... for like minded individuals. If you are not a like minded individual, no problem, you have that right. But you do not have the right to expect me or this group to change to please you. Big problem there. This does not preclude the option that you have of starting your own group and that way you can have it exactly to your own taste and no hard feelings. We can have a great group here. It is a great group already, but anything can get better and we will. You receive a ton of great information free. I think one of the best on the web. It is all how you perceive the situation. What you are getting or what you are not getting. A balance of self and others or mainly self. Please use, enjoy, and learn from this group, but the larger that we get the more the " rules " will have to come into play to accomodate the larger membership. regards, Frank
Guest guest
Hi Group, I posted this a couple of days ago. Some people read and understood it and started posting in accordance with the guidelines. Others unfortunately, didn't get the message. In the last 24 hrs, (right after this was posted) I allowed some of the randon posts that we receive here to show exactly why we have these giudlines and what you could expect if we didn't have them. The board would degenerate to 200 messages a day of junk. I would like all to have access to post, but some make it very hard to maintain that policy. We have 1200+ members and most post responsibly. Some don't understand. Some don't care and others are anybodies guess. We do not have the time or space to make 1200 people read misinformation, disinformation, unfounded opinions, your spur of the moment stream of conciousness, your gratuitous remark, etc. It then takes huge amounts of other time and space to try and counter the same misinformation etc. That usually just spurs on the attention seeker to further answers of misinformation, etc. You are welcome to your opinions and you must make the decisions for your own health, but to espouse them here, we don't want your opinions, we want the logical reasons that you have that opinion or someone elses logical or scientific reasons, like an article. There are thousands of other chat rooms and groups that you can use to talk about your opinions, this group was started to get away from the mountains of misinformation and low level common knowledge and to share somewhat substantiated or thought out information among friends. As of today. you will no longer be able to post 1. unless you at least appear to know what you are talking about somewhat. 2. Need help and have at least looked in either our archives and our message boards. 3. can phrase the problem somewhat so that we understand the details enough to know what are all of the things at play. What you have learned to this point, what research you have done ,what you have tried, what opinions you have gotten from others, what you think could be the problem, etc. 4. Can clean up your message, cut off the tails of prior group signature information, etc. We are not health professionals, and if we were, no one can do a very good job of diagnosis over the internet, especially with a one short sentence description of the symptom or problem. (Hold up the affected body part to the monitor?) This board is for all, but it is not for a vocal minority who would dominate the board with the type of messages described above and below. This board is to learn and to share what you have learned. It is to help people find what they need to know by pointing them in the right direction. It is to help people who have health problems who want to learn enough to take control over their own health. To do those things we have to limit what is the focus, what types of posts, what subjects, etc. or we have nothing here but basically spam.
