Hello Richard,

It's encouraging to know that that there are those of us out there such

as yourself that are working so hard regarding the political/parity

issues.

Would you be willing to share how you go about treating Carpal Tunnel

syndrome? I have several patients that I am treating for other pain

related issues, that also complain secondarily of carpal tunnel pain. I

have yet to have much success treating it, either now or in the past,

and would be eager to learn more effective treatment techniques.

Thank you,

K. Hamill, L.Ac.

Hi John,

To start with, foods with B6 or the supplement itself will help feed

the damaged nerves. Structurally he should have his wrists high

enough to form a straight plane with the back of the hand. The next

question is were it starts...forearm, arm, shoulder, or neck. I'm

sure Dr. Crandall may have some suggestions. I've worked with

clients who have carpal tunnel (I'm a massage therapist) and had

success. If you don't find anything in the files, etc. I'll send

some exercises and stretches that might help him. I myself take the

easy route and just go to my chiropractor when I throw out my

shoulder (that is where mine flares up.)

MSM acts as an analgesic and anti-inflammatory. It also inhibits muscle spasm and increases blood flow. MSM is critical to the formation of connective tissue of all types. MSM is a natural form of organic sulfur found in all living organisms, including human body fluids and tissues.

I would take the MSM and use the deep tissue oil... also soaking the wrist/hand in acv every nite for 20-30 minutes wouldn't hurt either... along with hot/cold therapy.

I and many 0f my friends with whom I have shared it, find the ginger and comfrey tincture also gives a lot of relief. they are always amazed the amount of relief it gives. since it is a topical 'linamint' so to speak, i use isopropal (rubbing alcohol) to make it. today i was at home depot and a month or so ago had given the lady in the nursery dept some and she has been using it on her shoulder and can't believe how well it worked.. said she had been watching for me so she could find out how to make it.

Given by Granny Lee:

easy as falling of a log:

remember, this is for topical.. not to be ingested as isopropal alcohol is being used.

for ginger tincture just take a cheesclothe square and put about of a cup of ground ginger root or if using fresh ginger, peel and chop it up and let it dry out before placing it in the cheesclothe .

place this in a mason jar or facimile and fill the jar the rest of the way with the alcohol. put an air tight lid on it and set in cupboard or other dark place and shake it at least once a day for a couple of weeks or more. Doc says it is best to start this in the dark of the moon and then 'press' at the next full moon if i rememer correctly. then when ready, press the liquid out and discard the pulp.

there are some who don't other to press but it is more attractive and can be placed in a smaller container if it is pressed and the pulp removed.

if you want ginger tincture for ingestion, do not put comfrey in it and use clear water or vodka. if i make it with fresh ginger just chopped finely without drying i use the clear water as the water in the fresh ginger will dilute the alcohol. since i make this for mainly my own use, i just make about a quart at a time.

here is Doc's post on the subject:

Mon Mar 15, 1999 12:19 pm The Moon

The phases of the moon are very important in making tinctures. Always make your tinctures on the NEW MOON, and press them on the FULL MOON.

Every great herbalist I know of including Dr. Schulze, Dr. Christopher and Dr. Royal Lee made their tinctures this way. This principle is not new, and goes back to farmers of antiquity. It is a very valid and important part of Herbal technology.

Except in the case of an emergency, every tincture should be allowed to brew for at least two weeks (prepare on the New Moon & press on the Full Moon). In an emergency, I've made a batch of Cayenne tincture and instantly given it to a person with heart problems to have those problems disappear immediately. Anything you make yourself is going to be a zillion times more potent than what you buy in the stores with the exception of purchasing direct from an herbalist who knows his or her stuff. If you have to whup up a batch of something in an emergency, it will still be more powerful than store bought remedies.

The rule of thumb is: "The longer you let a tincture brew, the more potent it gets."

IE. Last June 98, a day before the New Moon, my Wildcrafter picked a couple of dozen pounds of Echinacea Root starting at 5AM and bundled it up with an ice pack and shipped it to me UPS Overnight by 10AM the same morning. I received the bundle by 11AM the next day (the New Moon), and by 4 PM of that day had 10 gallons brewing in one gallon jars.

Now, I make my tinctures the same way Doc Schulze does. 3/4 (three quarters) of that gallon jar is crammed packed with Echinacea plant matter and the first gallon wasn't opened and pressed until the Full Moon two weeks later. It was top notch. Since then, I've pressed it on the Full Moon as needed by my clients. I've got 3 gallons left and the last one I pressed was so potent that my mouth was numb for an half an hour after I took one dropperful.

You are probably splitting hairs after a tincture has brewed for more than six months to a year, but you can leave it in as long as you want with it only getting better.

Make several bottles so that you can use some within two weeks of brewing and then press the remainder as needed on subsequent Full Moons.

Hope this helps.

Ian

Doc.. hope you don't mind me copying this : )

also Bridgitte, if you want to put some comfrey in it, add it at same tme as the ginger or it can be added later and let set same as above.. i hope this is of help, too.

love.. granny lee

If he has true carpal tunnel, a nerve conduction test will show

blockage in the wrist & how bad it is. I had carpal tunnel for 8

years as a result of typing. I tried all the mentioned natural

remedies & slept with a wrist/arm splint up to my elbow all those

years. None of those helped me. At the end when my condition became

so severe I could not drive a car with my hand on the steering wheel,

hold a pen, or hold a fork, I opted to have surgery. The relief was

immediate! I am sorry I waited & suffered for so long. He should be

careful not to take too many anti-inflammatory pills. I ended up

with leaky gut syndrome that I now have to deal with.

Carpal Tunnel

A nerve disorder that is quite common and often work related. Valerie Ann Worwood recommends massaging both hands,

arms and shoulders using a blend of:

Marjoram 10 drops

Lavender 10 drops

Eucalyptus 10 drops

Dilute this in 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil. Massage 2 x a day. )0(
