Dear Carla, First I wish to send you healing energy and wish you

much success. Here are a couple sites that may be of some help for

you and I do hope that members here who are EX-smokers will offer

suggestions for you.

I am a smoker with a love-hate relationship with ciggies and at 60

years of age I have tried to quit so many times I have lost count.

I have had to finally face the fact that until I really want to quit

I will keep puffing away. My hubby also smokes and he is an

excellant excuse that I have used many times until one day I finally

faced the fact that my failure is entirely up to me as will be my

success when and if that day comes when I finally decide I really

want to quit.

May I suggest you post here on how you are doing? Even post set

backs. I for one, will offer you encouragement and as a smoker will

not judge you. I know from experience how hard it is.

Good Luck and lots of wishes for your success. Remember take one day

and one step at a time.

Brightest Blessings

Let me piggyback here with a suggestion that works--HYPNOSIS. It's a kind gentle way to quit smoking. It can also address the accompanying issues of added stress and overeating at the same time. It works well, but I find that some persons need more than one session--after all, look how long you let tobacco have control of you. So if you need more than one session to rid yourself of it, that should be ok.

How do I know it works? I'm a certified hypnotherapist, and have been doing hypnosis since 1990. Most of my clients have successfully be able to quit smoking. I'm the first one to admit that not all of them could. There are always one or two who feel that "cigarettes are my only friends" or "I don't want to quit". I personally feel that those types have much deeper problems than smoking (like a desire to hurt themselves), but I hope they got help elsewhere and are now healthy nonsmokers.

If you want to learn more, Staudacher and Hadley have a great book out called "Hypnosis for Change". It's available in paperback, and you might be able to find it cheap on http://www.half.com The book is written from the viewpoint of self-hypnosis. Maybe you can do it for yourself. If you have questions, I'll be glad to answer them.

I have to chime in on this one. First let me say that as of yet, I have

not quit but have every intention of it.

At the beginning of the year my significant other and I were hypnotized

for quitting smoking. I fully

believe in this method. I believe that my circumstances and location were a

detriment at the time however I can say that I have never (even with the patch)

received results like I did when I was hypnotized.

Being a person who wakes up in the morning

and lights a cigarette I was amazed when I woke the next morning not wanting

one. My house was making me nuts with the smell of smoke.

I chose an inappropriate time for this

attempt and intend to return (the hypnotist is about 4 hours from my home). I

had literally just become unemployed, turned 40, accepted a job that completely

didn’t fit me out of sheer necessity and was dealing with stress like ive never experienced before. Excuses in the grand scheme

of things, but it didn’t help. I have since gained much better employment

and feel much better about everything. I am planning a return visit when I am

able to keep the windows in the house open more. You cant

imagine how much even my pillows and comforters smelled like an ashtray *cringe* I haven’t wanted anyone in my

house since.

I highly recommend this method if at all

possible.
