Roses and Stress Tips

"We can't change the stress. All we can change is our

reaction to it," says Meredith Heather Burnell, head of Marketing for mousepads and floral prints, at Kachina Rose Card Company, [http://www.kachinarose.com]

Ms. Burnell notes during periods of high stress, she does

the following:

1) After a rough day, she drops off to sleep by counting

from 100 backwards to 1, and she wakes up refreshed.

2) She prioritizes her challenges and asks her

subconscious to give her an answer to a particularly

vexing problem. She expects her subconscious to have an

answer when she wakes up.

3) When she is under stress or finds herself in an

awkward moment, she brings together the tips of the first

two fingers and thumb of either hand... it causes her mind

to adjust to a deeper level of awareness.

4) On her desk she gazes for a few moments at her rose

floral mousepad from Kachina Rose ... she says the floral

rose images help her to relax and allow her mind to go

into free-flow. "I can go into a 'zone' anytime I want to

or have to," says Meredith.

5) When she has to think on her feet, she shifts her

weight onto her left foot... to stimulate her intuition.

If she has to go into analytical mode... she shifts her

weight onto her right foot. "It has something to do with

the right-brain left-brain thing. All I know is... it

works," says Ms. Burnell.

6) She keeps a cup of green tea on her desk, in what

else... a rose motif coffee mug from Kachina Rose.

7) "When my three year-old grandson becomes cranky or too rambunctious, I just tell him 'time out' and have him sit quietly on the couch," says Meredith. "I learned this from my son, and it works like a charm. No yelling, no spanking... just a little patience."

positive reactions to daily stress.

“If you are discouraged it is a sign of pride, because it shows you trust in your own powers. Never bother about other people's opinions. Be humble and you will never be disturbed. Remember St. Aloysius, who said he would continue to play billiards even if he knew he was going to die. Do you play well? Sleep well? Eat well? These are duties. Nothing is small for God.”
