Guest guest
Why Put The Detergent In First? Many of us have been told that you should put the laundry detergent into your washing machine first, start the cycle, and then add the clothes. In fact, this is the technique recommended on the back of most laundry detergent boxes. Unfortunately, even if we did read the back of the detergent box, usually no explanation is given as to why this is the preferred technique. With no good reason to change, old habits prevail. So, for the record, here's the logic behind the soap-first recommendation: When you put the detergent in first and start the cycle, the detergent begins to dissolve before you add the clothes. As more water is added, the soap is evenly distributed throughout the entire load. On the other hand, when you put the detergent at the top of the load, the soap tends to stay toward the top of the drum. - Peggy Clements The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing.~ Albert Einstein ~ -- Version: 7.1.375 / Virus Database: 267.15.6/257 - Release 2/10/2006
