Guest guest
Vitamin Primer: Vitamin B6B vitamins help support adrenal function, help calm and maintain a healthy nervous system, and are necessary for key metabolic processes. Vitamin B6 (also called pyridoxine) helps ensure that biological processes like fat and protein metabolism run smoothly, and is frequently recommended for nerve injuries and carpal tunnel syndrome. Though all the B vitamins are water soluble, and thus eliminated through urine when the body has excesses, vitamin B6 can cause nerve toxicity at high levels. You should discontinue use of supplemental B6 if any unusual numbness develops in the body. Food sources of B6 include avocados, bananas, brown rice, eggs, oats, peanuts, soybeans, walnuts, and whole wheat. Dr. Weil recommends a daily B-complex supplement that contains a full spectrum of B vitamins, including thiamine, B12, riboflavin and niacin.
