How To Turn Your Bath Into A Spa

The public bath played a very important social role in Ancient Rome. Women weren't permitted to use these public baths. It was a place were men often met in the afternoon. The public bath served more that a place to clean. It was a place to socialize and conduct business. You could say the Roman bath was also a place to network. The Roman bath provide hot and cold water baths and would often have a gymnasium and or sauna.

Now, we take our baths in private. Most of use like the quiet time. In the privacy, we can relax and unwind from the days adventures.

The modern bath usually has a sink, a toilet, and a tub with a shower. Sometimes, the even bigger bathrooms have a steam room or a sauna attached to it.

It doesn't take much to make your bathroom into your own private spa. Why not add more fluffy pillows and towels? Decorate your bath with flowers and candles. It's your bathroom, why not dress it up?

Maybe your bath needs a little bit more done to it than adding a few flowers.

Before you start gutting your current bath, you need to consider two things, the size of the room and your budget. Go out and price various fixtures and accessories.

In order to remodel a bath, it takes considerable planning. You first need to know what's being installed. Does your new tub have a heater or jets? Those require extra plumbing and installation.

Choose your fixtures and materials to accommodate the use of both hot and cold water and where that water will splash. Other things to consider is the cleaning and maintenance of those fixtures and materials.

Remember with all that water comes moisture. Improper ventilation promotes mildew and mold growth on those moist surfaces. Use an exhaust fan built for your bath square footage.

Keep your lifestyle and preferences in mind with your bath remodeling project. Do you enjoy soaking in the tub? Don't be afraid to lay in the showroom tub before purchasing. They even manufacture whirlpool tubs the same size as a standard tub. If you're a shower person, why not eliminate the tub from your bath and splurge on a shower with multiple body spray units.

Like always, with a new bath comes new hazards. Make sure you maintain proper safety measure. Your bath or shower sprays water on various surfaces. Keep electrical outlets away from water and make sure you have the necessary non-slip mats.
