Aromatherapy:

Cuts and Scrapes

For cleaning wounds use 10 drops Lavender

in 1/2 cup of water and pour over wound or

use a compress soaked in this solution.

Sensitive Skin

Essential oils well known for their soothing

and healing action on the skin are Chamomile,

Rose, Neroli, Rosewood and Ylang Ylang.

Todays Tip

For Respiratory infections try

blending 2 drops Niaouli with 2 drops Eucalyptus.

Use this blend as an inhalation or as a chest rub

blended with a carrier oil.

Body Splash

Here's a great tip for the hot summer.

Create a fresh all over body splash

Combine 4oz. Witch Hazel, 4 oz. Mineral Water

40 drops Lavender

10 drops Sandalwood

Combine and pour into an 8oz. glass bottle or jar.

Use anytime you need a refreshing lift.

Enjoy!

Foot Soak

Here's an idea for tired, swollen ankles and feet.

Place a dozen or so smooth round pebbles in a

bowl of warm water then add Cypress 1 drop

and Lavender 1 drop.

Roll the soles of your feet slowly over the pebbles

for a few minutes, then dry your feet.

This tip from the book The Complete Book of

Essential Oils & Aromatherapy

by Valerie Ann Worwood

Sweet Marjoram is one of the essential oils

that can both strengthen and relax.

Great for anxiety and insomnia yet helpful for

chronic exhaustion. It has a balancing effect.

Try blending with Lavender for insomnia or with

Rosemary for a more stimulating blend.

For those of you who can't make up your minds,

try this blend of Clary Sage 3 drops, Bergamot 2 drops,

and Orange 1 drop. Clary Sage is said to promote decisiveness and an instinctive certainty. Diffuse or use in a massage oil.

Some essential oils help to protect the skin. Palmarosa, Sandalwood and Myrrh help the skin retain moisture. Try creating a blend in a hand or body lotion. Palmarosa, with it's regenerating effects is also ideal in facial blends.

Aromatherapy to Go

Here's an easy way to travel with essential oils.

Take a tissue, hanky etc. add your favorite essential oils. place in a zip-lock bag and keep in the glove compartment, your purse etc. When you feel the need simply open the bag and inhale.

Keep a bottle of Lavender Oil close at hand this

summer for those itching insect bites. Use a Q-Tip

and dab on.Use just a drop or less.

When using essential oils with children, please remember

their skin is very delicate. When adding e/o's to a bath

be sure to blend the correct # of drops with about 16 oz

of water, shake well, then add this mixture to the bath water. Use only those oils safe for children. A few are Lavender, Geranium and Rose. Use 1/2 the usual amount.

Slimming Oils

Juniper is a natural diuretic and will help the body to

excrete excess water.Juniper may also be used with Cypress

in a massage oil or in the bath.

Juniper along with the astringent properties of Cypress

create the perfect slimming oil.

A great massage oil recipe from the book
