Sensitive Skin Essential oils well known for their soothing and healing action on the skin are Chamomile, Rose, Neroli, Rosewood and Ylang Ylang. Todays Tip For Respiratory infections try blending 2 drops Niaouli with 2 drops Eucalyptus. Use this blend as an inhalation or as a chest rub blended with a carrier oil. Body Splash Here's a great tip for the hot summer. Create a fresh all over body splash Combine 4oz. Witch Hazel, 4 oz. Mineral Water 40 drops Lavender 10 drops Sandalwood Combine and pour into an 8oz. glass bottle or jar. Use anytime you need a refreshing lift. Enjoy! Foot Soak Here's an idea for tired, swollen ankles and feet. Place a dozen or so smooth round pebbles in a bowl of warm water then add Cypress 1 drop and Lavender 1 drop. Roll the soles of your feet slowly over the pebbles for a few minutes, then dry your feet. This tip from the book The Complete Book of Essential Oils & Aromatherapy by Valerie Ann Worwood Sweet Marjoram is one of the essential oils that can both strengthen and relax. Great for anxiety and insomnia yet helpful for chronic exhaustion. It has a balancing effect. Try blending with Lavender for insomnia or with Rosemary for a more stimulating blend. For those of you who can't make up your minds, try this blend of Clary Sage 3 drops, Bergamot 2 drops, and Orange 1 drop. Clary Sage is said to promote decisiveness and an instinctive certainty. Diffuse or use in a massage oil. Some essential oils help to protect the skin. Palmarosa, Sandalwood and Myrrh help the skin retain moisture. Try creating a blend in a hand or body lotion. Palmarosa, with it's regenerating effects is also ideal in facial blends. Aromatherapy to Go Here's an easy way to travel with essential oils. Take a tissue, hanky etc. add your favorite essential oils. place in a zip-lock bag and keep in the glove compartment, your purse etc. When you feel the need simply open the bag and inhale. Keep a bottle of Lavender Oil close at hand this summer for those itching insect bites. Use a Q-Tip and dab on.Use just a drop or less. When using essential oils with children, please remember their skin is very delicate. When adding e/o's to a bath be sure to blend the correct # of drops with about 16 oz of water, shake well, then add this mixture to the bath water. Use only those oils safe for children. A few are Lavender, Geranium and Rose. Use 1/2 the usual amount. Slimming Oils Juniper is a natural diuretic and will help the body to excrete excess water.Juniper may also be used with Cypress in a massage oil or in the bath. Juniper along with the astringent properties of Cypress create the perfect slimming oil.
