Vitamin E for Heart HealthLarge studies have shown that vitamin E supplementation can lower the risk of heart disease in healthy adults by about 40 percent. Since clinical trials on people who already have heart disease have not been as promising, vitamin E may be better used as a preventive measure in those without existing cardiovascular problems. As a preventive, it works in part by reducing the oxidation of LDL ( " bad " ) cholesterol, inhibiting the formation of plaque in the arteries. It also helps prevent blood clots and may dampen inflammation. If you are interested in taking vitamin E to help prevent heart disease, natural sources include nuts, seeds, whole grains and leafy greens. You can also take a vitamin E supplement containing 400 IU of natural mixed tocopherols (d-alpha-tocopherol with other tocopherols, or, better, 80 milligrams of natural mixed tocopherols and tocotrienols). -- Diana Gonzalez Nothing wastes more energy than worrying - the longer a problem is carried, the heavier it gets. Don't take things too seriously - live a life of serenity, not a life of regrets.
