A Natural Harvest of DecorationsNatural decorations are always available, you just need a little bit of creativity and inspiration to get yourself collecting and crafting!Apples have been harvested for several months now, and are reasonably priced in most areas. Inside the apple is one of our sacred symbols, the pentagram! Simply cut an apple crosswise and the star shaped seed core is revealed, surrounded by the round shape of the apple itself. (um, if you got a heart shape and no star of seeds, you cut it the wrong way! :-)Dried apple slices are great decorations indoors and out! I usually cut about 3-4 really good “apple pentagram†slices from the center of my apple. The other slices you will get won’t have the star of seeds, but you can still use them in potpourri or in garlands, etc. I dry mine on a food dehydrator, but they can be dried in an oven on very low heat directly on the oven racks or on metal window screens. Once dried thoroughly, you can make them into hanging, 2-sided ornaments by sandwiching a piece of cord between two slices and gluing it with a really sturdy tacky glue or hot glue. You can embellish the slices with dried herbs, flowers, ribbons....just about anything! You can brush glue onto them and sprinkle glitter on them for a bit of sparkle....or make a simple bird feeder by applying some peanut butter around the edge of the slice and then rolling it in bird seed! :::many songbirds enjoy fruit as well as bird seed:::Sticks are another great natural resource :-)Big sticks, little sticks...gnarled sticks and straight sticks! You can make all kinds of kewl stuff with sticks...garden fences & trellises, picture frames, frame easels, curtain rods, curtain valences, owner sticks, walking sticks, wands, staffs and much more. You can make wonderful decorations for your altar space with sticks too! Get some cheap raffia and tie five sticks (fairly similar in size) together to form a 5-pointed star...depending on how big your sticks are, you may have a kewl wall hanging or some smaller ornament size stars. The stars can be encircled with more sticks or maybe just a ring of raffia? They look wonderful!
