Guest guest
Lower Your Saturated FatIn a 2,000-calorie-a-day diet, only about 600 calories should come from fat. That is about 67 grams - not much once you start reading food labels. Ideally, your total fat intake should be in a ratio of 1:2:1 of saturated to monounsaturated to polyunsaturated fat - no more than 100 calories per day should come from saturated fat. How can you achieve this? Lessen your saturated fat intake with the following measures: Reduce your consumption of butter, cream, cheese, and other full-fat dairy products Remove the skin from chicken before eating Consume less fatty meats Concentrate on extra-virgin olive oil as your principal oil, and minimize consumption of products made with palm kernel and coconut oil These simple steps can help keep your saturated fat intake low, and boost your overall health.
