Guest guest
Rosewater Recipes: Rosewater: #1 2 pounds of rose petals BEFORE they fall from the flower. Put the petals in an enamel saucepan and cover with cool distilled water. Heat slowly until just under a boil. Then leave until cold and strain off the water. Rosewater #2 Gather 2 pounds of rose petals. Grind them into a paste with mortar and pestle. let the mash sit in the mortar for five to six hours, steeping in its own juice. Put this mask into a canvas bag and press out the juice into a jar. Add spring water and more fresh petals to fill the jar. Let this steep for 24 hours then pour the contents into a saucepan and heat over a small flame until bubbles appear in the pan. Remove the liquid from the heat, and let it cool. Strain and bottle. Rose Steam: After you finish the rosewater cooking stage, remove the pot from the stove and use the rosewater steam as a mini facial. Take a large towel and make a tent over your head, lean over the steaming pot and inhale the rosy steam. Rose Vinegar: Rose vinegar can ward off headaches and is cooling and refreshing when applied to the skin. This is very popular with the women of the French court. Take a jar of good quality white wine vinegar and fill brim with rose petals. Let it steep for twenty-four hours in the Sun, then strain off the vinegar. Dip a cloth in the vinegar and lay it on our forehead. Or apply it with a cotton ball as a toner after cleaning your face. Old Fashioned Rose Perfume: Take a half-pound of rose buds and cut the petals clear of the white part. Mash them with a mortar and pestle. Add 2 tablespoons of rosewater and mix in a glass jar. Seal and leave overnight. Add 1/2 teaspoons of musk to the rosewater and mix. Strain out to use. Romantic Rose Bath Salts: 1/2 cup sea salt 1/2 cup baking soda 1 teaspoon sunflower oil 2-3 drops rose oil 1/2 teaspoon vitamin E Mix ingredients together in a ceramic bowl or shake together in a glass jar. Store in an air-tight container. Add one or two tablespoons to your bath under the running water. For even more romance, float fresh rose petals on your bathwater.
