These first really hot days feel great. Shorts and sneakers everywhere. Smell the flowers. Celebrate graduations and weddings. Hike through the mountains. Enjoy the sunshine lasting longer into the evening. Have the freedom of no regular dinnertime. Let's have ice cream instead. There are so many wonderful things about late Spring and early Summer, but there are also some challenges such as bug bites, sun burns, poison ivy, back pain from extensive gardening, and more. Fortunately, aromatherapy can come to your rescue with safe, effective, fast-working solutions. For HimWhile shaving is a year-round activity, during the Spring and Summer, the skin feels more sensitive to the harsh razor blades. In fact, facial skin does change during these seasons, being more porous, allowing greater exposure to UV rays, and responding to increased perspiration. This is the time of year you want to treat your skin with extra care. Razor Burn Relief - Put 3 drops Chamomile, 2 drops Lavender, 3 drops Lemon, and 5 drops Geranium into one quart of water. Fill a spray bottle and spritz the face immediately after shaving,or for a more concentrated effect, Put 3 drops Chamomile, 2 drops Lavender, 3 drops Lemon, and 5 drops Geranium into 2 tablespoons of aloe vera gel, vitamin E cream, or even olive oil. Massage a small amount of the blend into the shaved area. For HerSwitching gears from the school season to the summer vacation season. Switching gears from winter clothes to summer clothes. Switching gears from indoor activities to outdoor activities. Switching gears from hearty winter meals to lighter summer meals. With all of this switching gears going on, your stress level may increase. Stress Relief - Put 10 drops of Chamomile, 5 drops of Geranium, 10 drops of Lavender, and 5 drops of Lemon into a small jar.From these combined essential oils, place 15 drops into a warm bath or sauna and soothe away the stress of the day. You can also place 10 drops into a cup of water and put into a spray bottle and occasionally spritz yourself during the day to calm yourself down and get back in control. And finally, with the other 5 drops, put them into 2 ounces of a lotion or 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil and massage your temples, neck, forehead, and behind your ears as a wonderful relief for stress-induced headaches. Ladies - the shaving relief blend is also a fantastic recipe for legs and the shaved bikini area. For the KidsWhile our children are thrilled that school is out for the summer, they too have to make adjustments. From the school schedule to the summer camp schedule, increased anxiety over making friends at day camp, and worrying about having enough time to keep their school friendships alive and well. Relaxing Bath: Put 4 drops Lavender, 2 drops Chamomile, and 2 drops of Sweet Orange into the bath and let your child unwind in preparation for bedtime.For the Entire FamilyHere are two " must have " blends for this summer: Poison Weed Rash Relief: Put 5 drops Lavender, 5 drops Chamomile, 5 drops Tea Tree, and 2 drops of Geranium into one cup of water. Spray on the affected area and let dry naturally.Sunburn Pain Relief : Put 8 drops Lavender, 2 drops Chamomile, 5 drops Peppermint, and 2 drops of Geranium into one cup of water.
