Guest guest
Tube Tea SetIt's fun to dress up and pretend to serve tea to your friends. And it'sjust as much fun to make a tea set of your own design. You will need:cardboard tubespaintcolored paper plastic foam trayscissorsgluevarious items for decoration: buttons, beads, rickrack, stickers, glitter, chenille sticksCut a section from a large wrapping paper tube for the teapot. Our is 4inches tall. Cut the sections from a medium-sized tube for your cups. We used smaller tubes for our cream and sugar containers, but you can usewhatever size you choose.Decorate your own tubes. We sponge painted ours, but covering them withwrapping paper or fabric would look terrific. How about an old fashioned flower design? (Don't forget to paint the insides of the tubes too!)To make the spouts, first cut triangular shapes from the tubes. It'seasiest to start at the edge, like our creamer. Ask an adult to help you start below the edge, like our teapot. The spouts are made from pieces of colored paper folded and glued inside the tubes. Make handles from strips of colored paper or lightweight cardboard. Chenille sticks would work well too. Just form a curve and glue the two ends to the container.Make cone-shaped lids from sheets of half-circle paper. Glue on a button or bead for a knob. Put the set on a decorated plastic foam tray, and you're ready to say, " Tea is served. " More ideas:* Make a complete set of pretend dinnerware. Decorate large and small paper plates and soup bowls to match your tea set.* This set would make a nice gift idea from one sibling to another. Frugal Moms has road tested this book, and we've found it to be incredible! It's filled with great creative ideas for recycled projects from paper tubes- from toilet paper tubes to paper towel and gift wrap tubes. http://frugal-moms.com/families/funbook/Boredom_Busters/91.shtml<http://frugal-moms.com/families/funbook/Boredom_Busters/91.shtml >-- Diana Gonzalez Nothing wastes more energy than worrying - the longer a problem is carried, the heavier it gets.
