Guest guest
Debbie, I have in the past put a drop of Helichrysum italicum on the spot of the splinter, waited a bit then have been able to get it out. Worth a try. Sandi > Anyone have any tips on drawing out a splinter? There is no part of it to > grab onto with tweezers, and it is beginning to get very sore and red. Guest guest
Debra, If you have a small orifice bottle, like a 1 or 2 oz EO bottle, you can heat the body of the bottle under very hot water, and then quickly place the opening over the splinter site so that the wound is under the bottle's neck opening. As the bottle cools, it will create a suction at the spinter site, sometimes pulling the splinter to the surface enough to grab it with tweezers. Unless the splinter is really embedded in your skin, and the original puncture has closed, this trick often works. If the skin around the splinter has become red and swollen, it may have already closed the original puncture. But it might be worth a try. ? Good luck! Guest guest
Apply a lard poultice or wrap the toe in a slice of raw bacn and then gauze. I know, I know - this sounds totally gross, but my grandmother always prescribed this for foot splinters, ingrown toenails. Pork fat (lard) is extremely drawing and curing ( no pun intended) to wounds like these. Bobbie - janet Monday, June 06, 2005 11:12 AM splinter Hi all, I have splinter in my big toe and need a simple houshold method of drawing it out of the skin, I tried with tweezers but I am not able to get hold of it. I thank you all in advance JJ
Guest guest
You can sterilise a stainless steel sewing needle (heating it over a candle flame is a good way) and poke the splinter out at least until it is long enough to be grabbed with tweezers. If there is any bleeding, make it bleed a bit more by squeezing to flush out germs. Clean the area before and after with a mixture (half and half) of hydrogen peroxide and sterile water (just boil some for about eight minutes). Guest guest
I have used the raw bacon and FAT BAK and the fat back works sooo well you need to leave it on 24hrs. it will draw it out. my mom used it all the time when I got splinters. Guest guest
Get a sewing needle, dip it in some tea tree oil or alcohol...and very gently go under the skin, little by little, try to get under the splinter an dit should just pop on out! Then use tea tree or hydrogen peroxide to disinfect it again. Guest guest
My grandmother always used Vicks Vapor Rub on a bandaid. She would put it on and the menthol in the ointment would "float" or draw the splinter out over night.janet <wantal4ever wrote: Hi all, I have splinter in my big toe and need a simple houshold method of drawing it out of the skin, I tried with tweezers but I am not able to get hold of it. Guest guest
They also actually have "drawing" salve at the drug stores--its a black salve and it does work. i never tried the Vicks, though, that sounds cheaper - Ursa Monday, June 06, 2005 2:59 PM Re: splinter My grandmother always used Vicks Vapor Rub on a bandaid.
