Guest guest Posted May 23, 2005 Report Share Posted May 23, 2005 BATH RECIPESPatchouli & Flower Bathsubmitted by Kim Baron of HTN member ThymeWise SpiritworksI'm a patchouli freak and this recipe smells yummy and feels good in thetub.Yield: 1 bath for every 3/4oz. of mixture Ingredients:2 parts dried patchouli leaves1 part dried chamomile flowers3/4 part dried lavender buds1 part dried calendula petalsBlending Procedure:Combine all herbs in a glass container with a lid - a big, empty, clean mayo jar is perfect! -Gently shake to blend. Let the jar sit for at least a weekto allow the herbs to " marinate. " Use 3/4 ounce (weight) of the herb mixture per bath. The herbs can be tied up in a muslin bag or sealed into a press and brew tea bag, either of whichcan be dropped into the tub while it's filling with hot water.Alternatively, put the herbs in a bowl and cover with a pint of boiling water. Allow to steep for 20 minutes, then strain and add the infusion tothe bath. The strained herbs can be tied into a washcloth, which can be usedto gently scrub with while soaking.Minty Fresh Bath 1 cup fresh (chopped) or 1/4 cup dried mint1 cup fresh bay leaves -finely chopped1 teaspoon coconut oil1 teaspoon of almond extractMix ingredients together then place in a mesh bag such as cheesecloth. Place under hot running water. Sit back & enjoy.Skin So Soft Bath Recipe1 cup of powdered milkfew drops of fragrant oilAdd powdered milk and fragrance to running water.Fields Of Gold Relaxing Milk Bath 4 cups powdered milk1 cup boiled water1/2 cup dried chamomile or 5 chamomile tea bagsSteep chamomile in water for 20 minutes Strain liquid. Mix liquid with milkand add to bath water. A real stress releaser! Oatmeal Milk Bath1 cup cornstarch2 cups milk powder1/2 cup oatmeal (ground finely; or use baby oatmeal)Combine all ingredients in a food processor until mixed. (will scratchplastic food processor bowls.) To use: Add 1/2 cup to hot bath water. Basic Bubble Bath Recipe5 drops fragrant oil1 quart water1 bar castille soap (grated or flaked)1 1/2 ounces glycerinMix all ingredients together. Store in a container. Lavender Dreams Bubble Bath Recipe1 quart water1 bar castille soap (grated)3 ounces glycerin3 drops lavender oilMix all ingredients together. Store in a container. Pour in running water. *castille soap & glycerin may be found at any health food store.Cherries Bubble Bath Recipe1/2 cup unscented shampoo3/4 cup water1/2 teaspoon salt ( regular table salt is fine)15 drops cherry fragrance oil Pour shampoo into a bowl and add water. Stir gently until well mixed. Addsalt, and stir until mixture thickens. Add cherry fragrance and place indecorative bottle. Desert Sands Bath Salts 5 drops yellow food coloring 2 drops red food coloring 4 drops musk oil 3 drops Jasmine oil 3 cups epsom salts 1 cup baking soda 2 teaspoons glycerin Combine baking soda, epsom salt and glycerin until well blended, add scents stirring until there is no clumps just a fine powder. Divide themixture evenly into 3 separate bowls. In the first bowl add 3 drops yellow food coloring, in the second add 3drops red food coloring and in the 3rd bowl add 2 drops yellow with 1 drop red food coloring...stir each bowl until the color is well mixed. Allow theair to dry it for a few hours before placing in a bottle. Once dried, layerthe colors...red first, then orange then lastly yellow. Honey & Lemon Sugar Scrubsubmitted by Alishia PiazzaThe sweet smell of honey and lemon to leave your hands, tootsies and entirebody skin soft and smooth.Yield: 1 intense fully body application Ingredients:2 1/2 cups sugar1/2 cup sweet almond oil4 teaspoons lemon juice4 tablespoons runny honey4 drops lemon essential oilBlending Procedure:Combine the sugar and sweet almond oil in a large bowl and stir well to combine. Add the lemon juice and stir again. Finally, add the honey andlemon essential oil and stir again to mix.You should have a grainy paste. To use, stand naked in a tub or shower andscoop the scrub using your palms. Begin massaging body, extremities first, in circular motions to exfoliate and cleanse.This mixture is oily and so you will have to be especially careful that youdo not slip in the tub!After you're finished, you can cleanse with soap or bath gel as usual if you'd like to remove some of the excess oil from your skin ... which shouldfeel polished and luxuriant after your treatment!You can make this product ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator butlet it get to room temperature and stir well to mix before using.
