Sorry it took me so long to answer this, Janet. I've been looking for a list to send you that has all sorts of things it's good for, but I can't seem to find it! If I find it I'll send it in tho. For now, here's what I personally do with my apple cider vinegar...

1. Add ½ cup of vinegar or so to warm bath water when bathing and get double benefits – softer skin and a cleaner bathtub with less work!

2. I keep a spray bottle of 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water in my bath tub so I can spray it on my hair after washing it...it conditions and also removes the gunk from previous shampoos. It's suppose to be good for dandruff too, but I never had dandruff so I don't know.

3. I use the same sprayer to spray all over my body after I wash. Then I rinse it off just a little before I dry. It works as a deodorant too, cuz it's suppose to even out your body's ph level....and I believe it works because I've got nicer skin because of it. I have dry skin, and I tend to get flaky spots or red blotches on my face (I think that's rosacea...or however you spell it!)....but the vinegar fixes all that and gives me smooth, squeeky clean skin...face and all. My daughter fights with acne really bad, and sometimes I'll get her to let me dab straight vinegar on those spots....and her face will really clear up. She doesn't like the smell of it tho, so getting her to do it on a regular basis is impossible. *lol* The smell does go away tho, once it absorbs.

4. Add some vinegar to your douche water. Also spray it on yeast infection...it fixes the ph level and before you know it, the yeast infection is gone.

5. I soak my feet in it too. I have a foot spa thingy that you plug in and it vibrates, etc. I just add about a 1/2 cup of vinegar to the water. Doing this once a week keeps me from getting foot fungus and removes any calluses.

6. I drink about 2 tablespoons of it in a 16 ounce glass of water, wihout honey or anything else, at least once a day, and I try for 3 times a day. (I did start adding honey to my teas lately tho...cuz there are a lot of health benefits from honey too). It makes me feel better all over inside. It's hard to explain, but I'm a diabetic and I was having problems with being tired, my body ached, etc, and drinking this stuff turns that completely around. It gives me more energy and I feel healthier. It also curbs my appetite. Also...if you feel a sore throat coming on, just mix a teaspoon of vinegar with a glass of water. Gargle with the mixture and then swallow it. Works like a charm!!! Does just as good for an upset stomach.

7. I keep a small jar of vinegar (no lid) in the door of my fridge. It really keeps odors away! I do the same in each room of my house. It takes away the smoke smell (if you have smokers in your house like I do) and everything!

8. I've put about a tablespoon of baking soda down my sink drain, then add a cup of vinegar to that. Leave it sit for about 15 minutes, then run hot water to rinse it out. Removes a lot of gunk out of there! If you just want to get rid of an icky smell coming from your drain, just use the vinegar and let it sit for awhile in the drain.

9. I've also used it (once) on my dog when she got into a skunk. Just took a spray bottle filled with straight vinegar and sprayed it all over her. I couldn't beleive that actually worked! No more skunk smell just after one use.

10. I don't keep buttermilk on hand, so whenever a recipe calls for it I just put a tablespoon of vinegar in one cup of milk and let it sit for 5 minutes before I use it.

11. Keep fruits from turning brown when you're peeling a bunch...just add a little bit of vinegar to your water.

12. I sprinkle it on my french fries! *lol*

13. I use a real strong solution of vinegar with water to run thru my tea pot. I use to do the same with my coffee pot when I had it. We have hard water here, and doing that really cleans it out.

14. Soak my shower head in it. Since we have hard water, the little holes in the shower head tend to clog up, so I take a baggie and a rubberband, put straight vinegar in the baggie, then put the rubberband around it to hold it onto the shower head. I leave that overnite, then use a toothbrush to lightly brush all the gunk off.

15. I added it to my washing machine a couple times when I wanted to get the smoke smell out of a coat. About two cups for a load for that. And it did work!

16. To keep your fresh cut flowers looking fresh longer, just put a tablespoon of vinegar and a teaspoon of sugar in every 1 quart of water.

17. Oh! And I also use it for a mouthwash! I rinse my mouth out with it and it kills bacteria really well. I have that gum disease, and swishing this stuff in my mouth (when I remember to do it!) makes my gums really nice. Also kills bad breath.

I think that's about all I use it for. I swear by the stuff. I don't buy the organic kind with the mother in it because I've found that the cheapest no-name brand works for me. I have noticed, however, that the cheaper brands of vinegar seem to have some dark stuff laying on the bottom of the jug after awhile....so maybe that's mother? I don't know. I just know what works for me. Maybe it's all in my head, but either way, it's working! *lol*

I think that Apple Cider Vinegar kind of has a bad smell itself. Don't you go around smelling like the vinegar??? I'm not trying to say what you are doing is bad, I'm just curious, because if it doesn't, then I'm going to have my dh use it in his tubs. Also, does it still do as good if you add other fragrance to the tub with the vinegar?

No, you don't end up smelling like vinegar, believe it or not. lol For some reason the smell goes away as soon as it absorbs into your skin. It's DURING the process that you'll have to put up with the worst smell. *lol* I've gotten so use to it now that I actually like the smell. Afterwards tho, the smell is gone and I put on my regular lotions and herbal sprays.

I don't know for sure, but I wouldn't think it would help any to add any other fragrance to it. Vinegar is so strong of a smell, I doubt you could hide it. If you try it, let us know! Ü

Also, vinegar is great as a fabric "softener". Add 1 cup of vinegar instead of fabric softener in your dispenser, or however. Plain white will work - if you want to save the expensive stuff for yourself. Gets all the soap residue out of clothes, eliminates static, and leaves towels very absorbent. And no smell of vinegar is left.

Also great for cleaning tile. My home is now 100% ceramic tile floors, and tile walls in the bathrooms ( greatly reduced allergies and asthma). The man who installed the tile told me to only use white vinegar and water, maybe a little orange EO, to clean these. Regular cleaning solutions, and even bleach, build up in the "pores" of the tile and grout, making them look dull and darkened, even gummy, after a while. 5 years later my tile still looks new, so I'm convinced this works: )

I have two severe lung conditions following an occupational exposure to asbestos mixed with other chemicals. Last Summer I got pneumonia, and the coughing and gunk lingered over 4 months. A friend gave me a bottle of vinegar "tonic" she made - kind of like Vingegar of the Four Thieves - and after using it for about a week, my lungs finally cleared. We have been devout drinkers ever since. I make a tonic with lots of garlic & onion, and add this an ounce at a time, several times a day, to a glass of vegetable juice, tomato juice, or broth, and drink it that way. Sometimes we will just sip on an ounce. We haven't had the colds and yuck at all this last season...much better than previous years. We've even got my grown children and a few of the grand children hooked : )

We also use vinegar for many of the same things that Aunty B listed. I also steep herbs in viegar for different uses - rosemary, nettle, and others for a hair rinse, all kinds of herbs for a light salad dressing, etc.

Oh we use either Four Monks brand or Spectrum Naturals. We buy 4-gallon cases wholsale from a local natural food supplier - much, much cheaper thatn buying the vinegar in the market or health food store

HTH,

Bobbie

If I can't hide the smell, I might not be able to get dh to use the vinegar. LOL
