Guest guest
Heart-healthy Foods Part I If you have been diagnosed with high cholesterol - or want to take measures to help prevent it - try making the following simple changes to your diet: Reduce your amount of saturated fat and trans-fats. Limit your consumption of saturated fat-rich dairy foods (such as whole milk, cheese, butter and cream) and red meat. Avoid foods with trans-fats, such as margarine, snack foods, and the recycled oils used to cook fast-food - French fries, doughnuts and movie popcorn. Use extra-virgin olive oil in food preparation. Eat more nuts and soy. Almonds, walnuts and cashews all contain heart-healthy monounsaturated fat - try to incorporate two servings a day into your meals. Use fresh garlic regularly in your meals. Garlic has been shown to lower cholesterol levels and blood pressure. Use one or two raw or lightly cooked cloves a day. Don't take things too seriously - live a life of serenity, not a life of regrets. -Unknown
