Guest guest
BATH BOMB RECIPESRecipe #1:1 Cup Baking Soda1/2 Cup Citric Acid1/2 Cup Cornstarch2 Teaspoons Cocoa Butter (deodorized), Mango Butter, or Shea Butter (melted)2-4 Teaspoons of Essential or Fragrance Oil1 Tablespoon Distilled WaterWitch Hazel (for spritzing mixture)Coloring, if desiredMix all dry ingredients together in a glass or stainless steel mixing bowl. Using a spoon, make a small "well" in the middle and drizzle melted butter and fragrance into well area. Blend well. Add a few drops of desired colorant to your distilled water then add to your other ingredients. Mixture may fizz a little. Pack FIRMLY into soap mold (the firmer you do this, the better your bomb will be). Turn out bombs onto waxed paper or plastic wrap and let dry overnight. Wrap in air-tight containers to keep them from getting damp again.Recipe #2:1 Cup Baking Soda 1/2 Cup Citric Acid 1/2 Cup Cornstarch 1/3 Cup Epsom Salts 2-1/2 Tablespoons Sweet Almond, Jojoba, Avocado, Sunflower, or Apricot Oil 3/4 Tablespoon Distilled Water or Witch Hazel 1 to 2 Teaspoons Essential or Fragrance Oil 1/4 Teaspoon BoraxDye (optional)Place all the wet ingredients and the Borax in a small jar and SHAKE WELL, then add the dyeSLOWLY pour wet the wet ingredients into dry ingredients (or the mixture will start to fizz) mixing well with your hands. Mixture is "good" when it holds together when squeezed in palm of your hand. If the mixture seems a little too dry, add a little bit more oil. Recipe #3:1/4 Cup Baking Soda2 Tablespoons Cornstarch2 Tablespoons Citric Acid1 Tablespoon Sweet Almond, Avocado or Apricot Kernel OilWitch Hazel for "spritzing" mixture3-6 Drops Dye (optional)1/4 Teaspoon Essential or Fragrance OilPlace all dry ingredients into a glass or stainless steel bowl and mix well. Melt oil, then add fragrance and dye. SLOWLY add the oil mixture to the dry ingredients, mixing well. Shape into 1 - 2 inch balls and dry overnight. Store in a closed, airtight container.Notes:The Witch Hazel is used to help moisten the mixture and it evaporates a little quicker than the water. Your can spray it on the mixture and use it on your hands to keep the mixture from sticking to your skin. Please do NOT use the Witch Hazel from your grocery or drug store. It STINKS!! Ours is made with very pure Ethyl Alcohol and has very little fragrance. Some mixtures can be VERY dry and crumbly and may have to be packed in the molds quite firmly to keep their shape. If you add any other ingredients (such as herbs, Epsom salts or dried flowers) you may need to add a bit more oil. Be careful not to add too much oil, as this tends to make the bombs soggy and can make a real mess in your tub. You will be a better "blend" if you mix the liquids into the dry ingredients with your hands. That way you can feel if you need to add more oil. The mixture should just start to "hold" together when pressed in your hand, like slightly moist sand or soil.Adding Epsom salts will create a little shine to the bomb and also makes the fizzing action a little more vigorous. It also seems to shorten the drying time required.~source unknown Brightest BlessingsAni
