Guest guest
RECIPE FOR SOOTHING BATH BAGS 1 c oatmeal 1/2 c powdered milk 3/4 c of dried cut lemon peel 1/2 c of chamomile, rose, lavender mixture. Mix together and fill your sachet. HERB & SACHET BAGS Freshen your clothes, bed linen or closet with a fragrant sachet or herb bag. First you'll need to make a dried potpourri mixture to suit your personal preference. Try a rose recipe as a pillow sachet that will aid in sleep. Choose mixtures that are not to bulky or the sachet may look lumpy. For a simple sachet that requires no sewing at all take a square piece of fabric, put a small ball of padding in the center and add a scoop of potpourri. Bring the edges up and around the padding and secure them with a ribbon. Use natural fabrics that allow the scent to escape best. You can also add lace edging around the square piece of cloth before securing. RECIPE FOR DRIED POTPOURRI The general method for making a dry potpourri is to combine dried petals and leaves thoroughly, with fixatives and blenders, such as herbs, spices, rinds and fragrant essential oils. For best results, pick flowers and leaves in their prime, on a dry day; before noon to avoid the hot sun. Pick only as much as you can dry. Set up drying racks on your porch, in your attic, basement or somewhere with good ventilation away from the sun. Window screens are excellent for drying your flowers. Spread flower petals along the screen in a single layer to dry completely. If you do not have quite enough dried petals for a nice batch of potpourri, store them in a covered container in a cool place to ensure they won't lose their fragrance when you want to add to them later. It's perfectly okay to be a late bloomer USE SAND TO DRY PANSIES Place the sand along the bottom of a dish, then place your flowers on top. Completely cover Pansies with more sand and allow 3-5 days to dry. I'm not aging, I just need re-potting DRY ROSES IN YOUR MICROWAVE Wrap rose petals in paper towel and microwave on medium heat for 2 minutes or until dry.
