Guest guest
Watercress vs cancer .. Contains the most of a very potent anti-cancer substance known as PEITC (phenylethyl isothiocyanate) that can neutralize come carcinogens before they cause damage to the cells. .. More than 50 scientific studies have shown that PEITC is not just a potent inhibitor of the development of cancer but can kill cancer cells & prevent cancer-causing agents being metabolized into carcinogens (known as ‘phase 1 suppression’) & to stimulate enzymatic activity involved in detoxification of carcinogens (known as ‘phase 2 activation’). .. When smokers ate 2 oz of of watercress a day for 3 days, they were protected from a key carcinogen (NKK) associated with tobacco & linked to lung cancer. .. In rat studies, PEITC prevented tumors induced by tobacco from forming. Sources : Effects of watercress consumption on urinary metabolites of nicotine in smokers" Hecht SS, et al.
