Guest guest
What is a Rose Hip? Roses are members of the apple family, and like their relative, they produce a fruit. This fruit, called the rose hip, is the big seed pods that forms on rose canes after it blossoms. Some roses, especially Rugosa roses, form rose hips that are as big as crab apples -- about the size of a quarter! Simple Rose Hip Tea To prepare the hips, cut off both ends with a sharp knife then open the hip and scrape out the seeds and hairy pith. Place 3 to 4 finely chopped rose hips in a cup and add boiling water. Steep for 5 minutes, strain and drink. You can also use your harvest of rose hips in your holiday decorations. -- String them as you would holly berries. -- Use them as accents on your wreaths and swags -- Add them to your holiday potpourris for a festive look
