Source: Mind Body Spirit/another group...

Sandalwood trees are found growing in Asia and East India. It is the

aroma

from the wood, not the leaves or flowers that help with healing to

promote

feelings of peace, serenity and ease various digestive ailments. It

is an

expensive oil and incense and scented candles are far more likely

easier to

obtain or come across. It has long thought of as an aphrodisiac and

burning

the wood can help create a romantic mood. sandalwood is a natural

antiseptic

and preservative, making it useful for soap, beauty creams and other

body

cleaners. Burning sandalwood incense helps release its natural

antiseptic

properties into the air.

Sandalwood helps to stimulate the base or seventh Chakra, improving

self-identity and trust. Burning sandalwood during a full moon

increases

spiritual vibrations in the home. Also, burning sandalwood near your

door

welcomes your guests and attunes them to your home's positivity,

encouraging

them to leave their doubts and anger outside. Write a wish on a

sandalwood

chip and place it in an incense burner. It will help to enhance your

meditations and increase the power of your wishes.

Sandalwood helps stimulate the production of gastric juices, easing

nausea,

colic and gastritis. It also stimulates the production of urine and

causes

the muscles to contract, helping to flush excess liquids, like mucus

and

diarrhea from the body. It has antiseptic properties to help with

fighting

infections.

Relaxation

Breathing the aromatic smoke from sandlewood incense sticks can help

to lift

melancholy and promote restful sleep. It helps to ease aggression and

irritability, promotes compassion and openness and aiding with

meditation.

* Particularly good for stress relief, especially when combined with

lavender or bergamot.

* Other Eastern woody fragrances such as cedar and frankincense add

to the

feelings of peace and calm that sandalwood promotes.

* Sandalwood is also an aphrodisiac and can stimulate a sensual mood.

Sandalwood Oil

* Using a few drops in a washbasin of hot water creates a steam

inhalation

to ease acne and cracked or dry skin.

* In a vaporizer or a bath, it will dry up the excess mucus - easing

bronchitis, wet coughs, stuffy heads and diarrhea.

* Mix a few drops of the oil with your body lotion to help sooth

rashes and

itchy skin.

Burning Sandalwood during Exercises

1) Light a stick of incense when you're ready to start exercising

2) As you exercise, close your eyes and breathe in the heady aroma,

letting

your mind drift with the sense.

3) After a few deep breaths, imagine that rather than being in your

room or

gym, you're cycling along a mountain path under a warm summer sun.

Imagine

the aroma coming from the beautiful trees lining the path.
