Guest guest
I received an email that indicates that it is very dangerousto do this. Here is the email I received: I am writing about the cake recipe in the newsletter in which Diet Coke or Diet Sprite is used in place of the wet ingredients. Diet sodas of all kinds (except Hansen's) contain the artificial sweetener, aspartame. Aspartame becomes dangerous when heated, converting to formaldehyde in the body. There are many articles documenting the dangers of aspartame that are easily found with a web search, but I will include the link to one which addresses the specific dangers of heating aspartame. Aspartame is a very dangerous product, and can be found in places where you would not expect, such as Juicy Fruit gum (not sugar-free, so why the aspartame???) It is important to read labels to avoid this deadly additive.
