Guest guest
Step one, relieving the discomfort. Relief for dermatitis depends on the type you have. You will want to address two issues. First, to relieve the discomfort and start the healing process of the skin. Second, to address the underlying cause. This week we will address topical relief. Next week we will dig further into addressing underlying causes. First you must try to find the culprit causing your dermatitis. Most of the time this is not easy but can be done through tracking back through your exposures to identify anything different that you used or were exposed to. It could also be caused by a reaction to several substances. Your doctor can perform allergy testing if you cannot identify the culprit. Some possible herbal ingredients to help relieve the itching include a calendula preparation, aloe vera gel, plantain (Plantago major) leaves, green clay, peppermint oil, lavender oil, tea tree oil, colloidal oatmeal (avena sativa, evening primrose oil and burdock root tea, capsules or extract. A combination can be made from these ingredients using the aloe vera gel or clay for the base ingredients. Taking a homeopathic remedy called Rhus toxicodendron three or four times a day may relieve the itching of mild short term contact dermatitis.
