Aloha ghjad/Vicky. . . you're friend may have gotten results, but Hematite is a

mineral that should not be used in an elixir (and certainly not in mouth with

saliva full of enzymes designed to break down whatever material is put in the

mouth.  Hematite has a very high Iron content and using in manner you

described allow mineral to enter bloodstream. See below from previous post in

this group about toxicity of Hematite

It is so easy to feel that minerals are safe for use in any circumstances, but

not so. I have never seen a Hematite crystal, but know that all other metals

(Galena, Pyrite) in crystallized form are also not recommended for use in elixir

and hand washing following use is recommended as the skin readily absorbs what

it comes in contact with.

Your friend may want to consider a detox of heavy metals from the body as well

as connecting with dentist that can assist in alleviating cause of toothache.

Here is post with info on minerals that should not be used in elixir or taken

internally.

I am (...by far) not an expert in this field, but I am a self-proclaimed crystal

junkie. So, don't take my answer as 100% fact, but from what I read, I

understand that some crystals are toxic if placed directly on the skin or if

used as an elixir. They contain certain substances which can be dangerous if

absorbed into the skin.

I also understand that certain crystals are safe to be placed directly on skin

only in tumbled form. The raw crystal is the big 'no-no', but again, tumbled is

said to be safe enough. Here is a list of 'toxic crystals' that I found:

There are many minerals that contain either a high heavy metal content or toxic

substance. These minerals should not be used for an elixir and handled with

care.

Please wash hands after handling these stones.

Actinolite

Fibrous form contains asbestos. Not recommended for elixirs. Safe if enclosed

completely in quartz.

Amazonite

Contains traces of copper, which is toxic.

Azurite

Coloring is the result of copper, which is toxic.

Bronchantite

Contains poisonous/toxic copper

Boji Stones

Unknown stone/mineral types - would consider toxic

Chalcopyrite

aka Peacock Ore contains copper and sulfur which can be toxic

Celestite Slightly soluble in water, unfit for elixirs

Cinnabar

Contains mercury which can be poisonous/toxic Wash hands after holding. Do not

touch hands to eyes or mouth while holding. Use in a well ventilated area as

mercury can transform to vapors at body temperature.

Cobaltite

Contains harmful arsenic

Conichalcite

Contains poisonous/toxic copper

Copper Not suitable for elixirs, high levels of copper!?!

Crocoite

Contains poisonous/toxic levels of Lead. Wash hands after holding. Do not touch

hands to eyes or mouth while holding

Chrysocolla

AKA Gem Silica Contains poisonous/toxic copper

Cuprite

Contains poisonous/toxic copper

Dioptase

Contains poisonous/toxic copper

Galena

Contains high amounts of lead which can be poisonous

Halite

Dissolves in water (Its salt, it won't harm you but you won't have a crystal

anymore!)

Hematite

Unfit for elixir use--will rust with prolonged exposure in liquid

Lapis Lazuli

Pyrite inclusions may contain poisonous/toxic Sulfur if they develop a white

powder on the pyrite.

Magnetite

Unfit for elixir use--will rust due to Iron content , not recommended for

elixirs

Malachite

Contains poisonous/toxic copper, take care when handling rough stones. Polished

stones are usually stabalized.

Marcasite

Contains poisonous/toxic Sulfur

Peacock Ore Contains copper and sulfur which can be toxic

Psilomelane

Contains poisonous/toxic Barium

Pyrite

Non-polished or non treated pieces, with time and exposure to oxygen, may form a

white powdery substance/residue which is poisonous/toxic Sulfuric Acid. If this

occurs you should not wear next to the skin or touch.. Not recommended for

Elixirs.

Quantum stone

Contains poisonous/toxic copper, take care when handling rough stones.

Realgar

HIGHLY TOXIC levels of Arsenic. Wash hands after use, keep away from CHILDREN!!

Do not put hands near eyes or mouth before washing hands.

Serpentine

Fibrous forms contain asbestos. Wash hands after use. Not recommended in elixir

preparation.

Sulfur Contains sulfur !?!

Stibnite

Contains lead and antimony. Not recommended for elixirs.

Smithsonite

Contains zinc and may contain copper (green Smithsonite) Poisonous/toxic

Tiger Eye

Fibrous form contains may asbestos (under debate), Not recommended to use raw

forms for elixirs.

Torbernite

Radioactive

Tremolite

Fibrous forms contain asbestos. Not recommended for Elixirs. Wash hands after

use.

Ulexite

Contains toxic Boron

Vanadinite

Contains poisonous Lead

Vesuvianite

AKA Idocrase Fibrous forms contain asbestos. Not recommended for Elixirs. Wash

hands after touching.

Wulfenite

Contains poisonous Lead and Molybdenum

Zircon

A rare form known as Cyrtolite is Radioactive

Does the site that you got that information from say WHY you should not

Very interesting, thank you for sharing this! I know that many of the green

stones such as chrysocolla, and malachite have high levels of copper... but I

wonder about turquoise?

Hi Skye,

I think...but this is mostly opinion.....that hematite tumbles...as you

mentioned....should not be a big issue.  But I am sure there are no studies done

on how long you can keep it in your mouth and even vibrationally what is the

saturation point....all places crystal healing will venture in the future.  But

we cook with iron castware.....and so in that regard we do absorb iron from

non-food sources.

Enjoy your day,

Dawn

Aloha Dawn, Vicky and All. . .

Vicky has said that a Hematitie 'crystal' was used and I was responding based on

that. Perhaps holding a piece of tumbles Hematite near affected area outside of

mouth would be helpful, but abcess issue would still need to be addressed.

Hematite, pyrite and most minerals that include those two aid in drawing toxins

out of body and because of their strength cause a reaction and sense of relief

that can be easily felt.

When I sent the post I didn't delete part where someone stated that Quartz

should not be used unless timbled.  That is NOT true and a discussion followed

that was posted a few months ago.  All stones should be used with discretion.

Stones listed as toxic will probably not cause harm when used topically a few

times, but long term use may cause harm.  Ingestion as an elixir or

otherwise and respect for what guidance has already been given is always

advised.

Re Charlene's ??? although not on the list, I would include Turquoise in the

'green' copper family and use with same advisements.

As to iron cookwear, it is usually 'seasoned' by coating it with oil and baking

it before first use and kept that way for it's lifetime of use.  Over

consumption or absorptiion through skin of iron can actually cause anemia.  Many

stll use aluminum cookware and although it is considered less dangerous than the

form of aluminum used in anti-perspirants it is advised by health care

experts to not be used.  Formulas for elixirs always recommend using glass or

ceramic bowl AND utensils as interaction of metal and minerals effects quality

of elixir.  Elixirs when prepared in safe manner are wonderful in that they

share the energetic properties of stones without requiring ingestion of actual

minerals.

Minerals and metals are seen by body as inorganic and are not absorbed by body

but stored in bones and fatty tissue.  Everyones favorite baby oil is mostly

petrolatum and not absorbed by body and considered a major cause of allergies.

Talc is a mineral and found in baby powder and after bath dusting powder

and considered a major cause of asthma and possibly breast cancer.  The body has

a system that 'rubber stamps' incoming allergins, things not recognized by body

a useable.  Once it passes the max that it can handle everything recognized as

inorganc causes an allergic reaction, which is why removing those toxins or

allergins allows body to more easily return to better health.

Some great sites with up to date research backed health date are:

Re: [CrystalHW] Hematite and Toothache-List of Toxic Minerals

Dawn

[CrystalHW] Hematite and Toothache-List of Toxic Minerals

Sunday, September 20, 2009, 4:51 PM

Serpentine

preparation.

Greetings Kelly,

Does the site that you got that information from say WHY you should not

place it in direct contact with the skin? I am very curious as to what the

issued would potentially be. Melody's listing does not make any statements

about not wearing it against the skin or using an alternate method for making

an elixir with it.

Blessings to your day all.

Hi:)

I, too, really appreciate the heads up as far as toxic minerals goes. I see

where I've made some mistakes!

Thanks,

Lori
