Guest guest
This is a question I've wondered about for years: A lot of stones look drab & unattractive, UNTIL you get them wet. While wet, some stone's have beautiful colors & sometimes look like something I could identify using one of my books. While living in Calif., I decided to MAKE my stones STAY colorful as they had when wet. I bought several cans of PolyUrethene & sprayed them. They stayed lovely. Now here's what I want to know: when identifying stones, is it useful and okay to have them wet? OR do they HAVE to look precious WHEN DRY? (I've got some stones that look bland, and yet, when wet, they appear to have Turquoise on them. So how do I know if the " Turquoise " is the real thing?) And even though I no longer put PolyUrethene on my stones, do you think that having that coating made the stones unusable for healing-work? I've always believed that the Stones had to be raw and unpolished. Guest guest
ReNau, A part of your letter made me laugh; I think it was the " Twang " that ran down your spine! Thanks for the giggle. And your advice made good sense. I was relieved to get an answer to whether or not to wet a stone and then identify it. I would be interested in hearing anyone else's opinion regarding identifying a wet stone. I now have to ask a question that is probably going to sound like I'm an idiot: I have twin Wands. I know they can be placed on the body for healing. But since they DO call it a WAND, is it possibly used as a Magic Wand might be used? For instance, Waving it in a patttern, and instead of casting a spell, directing the Wand to send energies and healing to the person you're giving a healing to or to a specific part of the body or Chakras? It's just that the idea of using a WAND sounds so Disney-magical & intriguingly mysterious---As though, no matter how many ways we may use it, the Wand can do even more than we may be able to imagine. You don't sound like an idiot at all. It is a very valid question, especially with how Hollywood likes to portray the use of wands in magickal movies. There is no need to " wave " a wand. Basically you use a crystal wand like you would a pointer. The only " waving " one might do with a wand for healing purposes is for " scribing " say rune symbols or Reiki symbols into candles, clay, the air or on/over a place on someone's body to combine those (the symbol and particular crystal) energies for the healing work or spell work you are doing. As a healer (self healing or others), if you feel during the session a particular rune or Reiki or some other magickal) symbol would be beneficial to the person you are working on, by all means combine that with the crystals and use a crystal to scribe it. Blessings to your day all. ReNau " Codail, suaimhnigh i nge/aga nadragain " " Sleep, rest in the arms of the Dragon "
Guest guest
Jackie, I use both, when purchase a stone I go with what feels right to me. Even if I need a stone and nothing feels right I won't purchase one. Cleaning and energizing a stone to me is most important. I do use polished but not any that are coated. The ones you sprayed would look nice on display but personally I would not want to use them for healing work. I know several will disagree with this but a few years ago when I want really going through some heavy stuff I got stones of all colors of the chakras and put them in the middle of my king size bed. Amazing my morning several of the stones had moved to my back in coordination with the correct chakra. It really seemed to help me. Many of those stones were polished. Unsure how to tell if is is Turquoise - I am sure others can assist with that.
