[CrystalHW] a useful site

I friend passed this link to me. I've found it useful when research a hunk of

plastic that I purchased which was alleged to be Moldavite.

Very interesting site. I have tons of crystals mainly tumble stones and from

reading this wed site I may have to take a lot of mine to a jewler to find out

if they are in fact real.

Hi,

It helps to know what you are buying..especially in the more expensive stones.

That Moldavite looked fake...a very pale color than the usual.  I would say if

you are buying a more precious gem and you are not experienced take someone

with who is or go to a reputable source.....and not just for price.

As for tumbled stones...you will not get ripped off badly...what $1 or $2?

Most tumbled stones are the real deal.  But it is easy enough to go to the

Internet and look up the stones.  When in the business long enough you would

learn about goldstone and its counterpart midnight stone....very fake...I did

not know about the dyed aragonite being sold as malachite but howlite is most

often dyed to look like other stones and malachite/azurite, turquoise and a host

of other stones are partials in that they are reconstituted.

It is part of the learning curve......just beware of the expensive side of the

curve.

Blessings and good luck,

Dawn
