to some members of my very southern household, the idea that crystals have

their own energies that can be used by us is a sacrilegious and possibly

blasphemous idea. It seems ridiculous to me that as a grown women with grown

children even, I feel like I have to hide my crystals like this. I will take

them out of the drawer tonight and just set them out in some type of pretty

display.

Definitely, if you were " hiding " them, they would want to come out. As far

as anyone else is concerned (especially those who would condemn you for it or

think you are nuts) .... you just like crystals and are collecting them

because they are pretty. No one but you needs to know that they are for

meditation,

dream work and healing, unless you feel that person is open to the

experience. My family thought I was nuts when I first started but then again

most

folks think I am nuts anyway ... hahahaha

I will say in some case crystal would be better off displayed behind glass

but still displayed. Fragile crystals such as halite and needle selenite

clusters (one variety is green from Australia). These can easily break or

crumble

if dropped or knocked off a dresser top ... oh say by a cat . We had a cat for

a while that would jump up on the dresser and knock crystals off

regularly.). Also, in a home with small children that are at the taste

everything stage

and put things in their mouth that they could possibly choke on.

Some pretty ways I display crystals are with the use of " props " shall we

say. For tumbled and small rough crystals, I will use pretty cut glass or etched

brass bowls. I have a 3-tiered pie plate holder that is holding 3 brass bowls

full of small crystals. For spheres and eggs, I will use unique and pretty

napkin rings in varying shapes and sizes (heights) as well as taper candle

holders. I also have 2 matching wooden wine racks that are awesome for smaller

display pieces and wands. Instead of rounded slots, these have square slots

for the bottles. So plenty of flat surface for crystals. They are also being

used as " pedestal " legs with a thick glass plate across the top of them (a

large crystal singing bowl is on the floor in between the 2 " legs " ) this

creates

something of an altar for the spheres and eggs. I have added a few photos to

the photo section " ReNau's Crystal Family " , so that you have a better idea of

what I am talking about.

So, have fun with it and be creative in your display techniques. It is a

blast!

Blessings to your weekend all.

Thanks to all for your responses. I did take my favorite crystals out and for

the moment just have them laying out on a dresser. I will be working on ways to

display all of them because I do have quite a collection. When I can find the

time, I make jewelry and I ordered several bags of tumbled gemstones that really

need to be displayed even though, for the most part, I don't feel a particular

attachment to them.

My favorite crystals and stones came from a tiny little rock shop about 8 miles

from my house, way out in the country. I live 20 miles from the nearest

wal-mart and she's even further out than I am. We stopped there about a year

ago and it is owed by a sweet, lovely lady who is in her 80's. We spent more

than two hours there talking to her about her travels and her rock and gem

collection nearly all of which she collected herself from all over the country.

Of course the more exotic stones were ordered from different places. That

evening, I purchased several small crystals and stones and they have been my

favorite since then. Let me tell you, she had a story for every stone I put in

that little box. I've been by there several times since then and the lights are

always off. She doesn't have set hours and she told me that if the lights are

on, she's there. I hope she's alright. I've been wanting to stop there again

if I can catch her in the shop.

My point to all that is, my husband was with me that evening and knows I have an

affection for those stones so displaying them won't be wierd. The bulk tumbled

stones are just really pretty and I may use one or two of renaumoon ideas for

displaying them. My display will have to be a little less obvious though.

Renaumoon, your display is so beautiful and I am a little jealous of your

crystal family. All I have is a few rocks compared to you, lol. Your chakra

wall hanging is just beautiful. Thank you for taking the time to guide me.
