Can someone tell me please is Bournite , Peacock ore , and Chalcopyrite

all the same crystal .

From Melody's Love is in the Earth book:

Chalcopyrite crystallizes in the form of tetrhedrals with sphenoidal faces,

in octahedrals and compact botryoidal or reniform masses. The color range

includes brass-yellow which may tarnish to green or iridescent. It often occurs

with copper and/or zinc.

Bornite also known as peacock rock (ore) crystallizes in the form of masses

and occasionally in the form of cubic and rhombdodecahedral (12 faces, each

the shape of a rhombus) crystals. The color is red-brown and is enhanced by an

iridescent tarnish produced in a variety of colors (e.g. purple, yellow,

blue, turquoise, rose, etc.)

So, Bornite IS peacock or but NOT Chalcopyrite. They are 2 different rocks.

You could look in a science based rock book to see if some of their chemical

composition is the same if you wanted to.

Blessings to your weekend all.
