Considering that one is cleansing (i.e. removing the bad energies from the crystal) and those energies are absorbed (in some cases dissipated or transmuted) by cleansing material. So, if one were to use a food product, you certainly would not want to then eat that food that has absorbed the bad energies. As to potential damage from burying a crystal, that would depend on the crystal itself. If you bury selenite in rocky soil or even in rice, due to it's softness, you could run the risk of scratching it. Layered/Flaky crystals such as mica might separate more if what you bury them in has a degree of weight to it. Just like with cleansing with liquids one just needs to know what crystal/mineral one is working with first before determining which cleansing method is best for the crystal and you feel on a personal level is effective. No matter the process of cleansing it is the intention that matters the most. Greetings Lin, I am in agreement with John about not using salt for cleansing crystals. I also want to expound on what he mention about some crystals being sensitive to cleansing methods. Some crystals and minerals are also water soluble. So, one must use caution with water cleansing as well. Halite is a beautiful form of salt crystal and easily dissolves away to nothing in water. If you are completely new to crystals before cleansing them, make certain you know what kind of crystal/mineral they are and the hardness and solubility before using any liquids on them. Some folks prefer just using intent and their own breath. Some use sun or moonlight (and again some crystals can fade if left in direct sunlight). Some will bury crystals in the earth (even dirt of potted plants). Some will smudge with cleansing incenses (sage, dragons blood, frankincense). Some use Reiki ......and many probably use a combination depending on need, time and purpose (or last use) of the crystal. Blessings to your eve all. Guest guest
IF I missed this being mentioned - then please forgive me - but I have noticed through this conversation that only cleaning was mentioned - (great answers) - one thing thought no matter what it is a crystal or a room or a car - SAGE takes out all the negative and the positive. No matter what cleaning method you use remember to energize the stone by intent, prana breath, sun or moon light or with sandalwood, lavender, or jasmine to put the " good " and " love " back into it. (now in mentioning that - I read an article recently that raised a question for me - it stated that burning sage may not get all the negative out of a room or house as the " smoke " may not reach all areas that have negative in them - it was stated to use a divining rod to locate the negative left in a room and them cleanse that particular area with sage - I thought that was an interesting take and very possibly true) One method that is used in a healing modality that I use is the following: spray bottle mixed with a few drops of lavender - and vodka - it is a cleaning agent. rubbing alcohol or witchhazel can be used with equal amounts of water instead. You would just spray it and use a cloth or cotton ball to clean the crystal. I would like to note that this is used on clear quartz crystals. It is great and can be carried in a bottle anywhere anytime. Especially is you are working on people and need a cleaning inbetween. Good Luck and Happy cleaning and energizing!
