'Anti-Science' Culture Is Threat to Food Security (The Emperor strikes back!)Source:Farmers GuardianAuthor:William SurmanDominic Dyer, chief executive of the U.K.'s Crop Protection

Association, an industry body, has said that European farmers will fail to

meet future food demand if politicians continue to block genetically

modified (GM) crops and to remove pesticide products from the market place

"without any scientific justification or impact assessment". "EU plans to slash the number of pesticides available to

Europe's farmers will not only reduce crop yields and quality, but

will also lead to higher food prices, increased food safety risks, a

higher carbon footprint and job losses in UK food production," Dyer

commented. He argued that: "Tackling food security in the face of

global population growth, climate change and declining natural resources

is a challenge which cannot be met without access to the most advanced

developments in agricultural technology . . . Europe's ability to

tackle this issue will be seriously constrained unless politicians across

the EU are prepared to confront the anti-science culture which currently

dominates the European decision-making process." Dyer called for

greater independent scientific input in future decision-making and a

repositioning of "modern, science-based agriculture" as a

central part of the economy and future development. The article says the

U.K. government is seen as one of the most pro-science member states of

the EU. The article can be viewed online at the link below. http://www.truthabouttrade.org/content/view/14370/54/ All it takes is just one vaccine to forever change your life. - Dawn, mother of vaccine damaged child.
