But how could you say you meant no offence when what you said is extremely offensive? > I'm just giving an informed opinion, And how Susan is this opinion " informed " . Have you done studies? An opinion is one thing.. and " informed opinion " would have some sort of studied basis on it. > no need to >take it personally. What? Are you kidding me? You say all ministers are self serving... and since I am a minister you are saying that I also am self serving as a minister. Susan.. I gave 3 years of my life to working in Prisons as a Volunteer-- teaching Meditation and Spiritual Practice. I don't think this was self serving. >you must know yourself that not all pastors or >religious figures are neccessarily good people. And Susan you must know that all ministers are not bad people. I don't say all ministers are bad, I said I have yet to meet one who wasn't self serving.I guess there must be good ministers out there and thats a brilliant because hopefully they will go someway to make up for those who use a position of trust to prey on children, the vulnerable and the weak. As a minister I find your attitude offensive, do you cross examine everyone that has an opinion different to yours? I am deeply saddened that you should be so aggressive in the face of someone who has an opinion based on fact. This subject is no longer up for discussion. >
Guest guest
This is very sad. Are we not *all* self-serving to some extent? Do we not *all* attempt to better ourselves in some way, and is this not " self-serving " ? Susan, no offense intended, but just because you have met selfish clergy does not mean that *all* such people are selfish & self-serving to the exclusion of all else. Blanket statements like this are hurtful... there are many many people who are dedicated to compassion and Higher Good, and *some* of them happen to be clergy of one sort or another. Personally, I've met some awful clergy of many different faiths... I've also met and know some truly beatific, caring, giving clergy, also of many different faiths. I've met some awesome, caring, New-Age and alternative Faith people... and I've met using and abusing charlatans masking as " enlightened " . I know people who will charge normal markup for crystals they sell, and greedy sellers who will buy for pennies and charge whatever the market will bear - there are good people, and there are caring people, and there are greedy people and there are selfish people... and the " bad " ones always give the " good " ones a bad name... but only if the rest of us assume that " some " equals " all " . " Crystal groupies are flakes " . I am really glad that the people in my life that hold the above opinion don't believe that *all* crystal groupies are flakes... some of my nicest stones have been given to me by them! <smile> This is much longer than I had intended. Apologies to the list. It's just very important to me that people judge people on their own merits, not on gossip or transferring the actions of one (or more!) onto the reputation of another. Blessings, Kathleen PS - John, if the shoe doesn't fit don't try to wear it, it'll only pinch your toes. - but I do understand where you are coming from, one prison chaplain to another... though possibly different faiths. susan roberts wrote: > > > <%40>, John Van Rees > <john wrote: > > > > > > > > > > > > >I would absolutely believe he was a pastor!
