Hi all! I have been missing awhile-I lost a dear Uncle and have been

supporting my Aunt in the best way I know how and have fallen way

behind on posts...so happy to see new members, and see that they have

been heartily welcomed and helped as well-hello to everyone! I have

been missing the group. I have been sending out a general blanket of

reiki for anyone who is accepting/needing in the group hoping that it

has been making it's way down to those who might need a little help.

Things are looking up in my own family-my Uncle had been ill for a

very ling time and I feel certain he is happy and at ease now when he

had not been in this body for a very long time. I posted awhile back

about some large green stones that I had found at the rental house I

now reside in, and hoped to find them again under the snow, along with

the huge piece of petrified wood. I am adding the pictures to my

album-I placed a dollar bill on a few of them for scale, and I am

hoping someone can tell me what they might consist of. They are a

deeper green near the center with the edges being more translucent

light green looking-some variations of color sort of reddish/orange

and remind me of lepidolite scale texture. I have three, so there are

several shots and some close ups. Thanks, guys, for having a look! My

yard is still full of snow and huge pools of water-would still love

any answer on my feng shui question about possible crystal placement

in the home to help reduce water puddling in the yard. Love and light

to everyone! Best wishes! Brenda

The back yard 002 photo looks like my rough aventurine piece, back yard 001

I am feeling possibly serpentine. I am confident that 2 of the pieces are

aventurine (I was having a difficult time determining which would have been

crystal 3 ~G~ thus aventurine for it since there were more photos of that kind

of

stone).

Is the big brown rock that the dollar bill is resting on a huge piece of

petrified wood?

Blessings to your eve all.

I'll have to see if I can find a good photo or take one of the green

mystery stone in my back yard some of what we find around here which

looks a lot like yours is green quartz with Mica how much Mica seems to

be what determines if it is Aventurine or Phytopylite? ( cant remember

what its is actually called for sure has more Mica splits into leaves

more easily absorbs oil and has a very shiny like powder surface on

fresh splits but is still a hard stone. Another green stone one can find

around here with a good resemblance is some green brechiated Jasper

Serpentine is also around in a lot of places but that does not look

like most of the " wild " serpentine or Jadey stones I've seen.

I do love going on a mineral knowledge-seeking quest!! YAY!! What a fun way

to start a Sunday morning. I tried searching for that spelling but could not

find anything. (I am very good at mixing up letters with minerals ....

heehee ... I have a hard enough time remembering human's names when I am

introduced to them .... so scientific names came be brutal!! Since I wasn't

coming up

with anything under Phytolpylite I moved that " H " to after the second " P " and

was lead to this:

Pyrophyllite. I am thinking this is what you were referring to? There is a

picture to go with it and is similar but not quite the same green as Brenda's

photos.

In looking up green quartz this is what wikipedia says there (calls it

Prasiolite:

this one is gemmy and transparent not translucent to opaque.

Here is a nice picture of Green Aventurine. There is an example of rough and

polished:

Here is a good picture of a form of Green brecciated jasper:

Brenda .... you will have to let us know what you come up with!!!

Blessings to your day all.

ps ... I will have to locate my piece and look more closely at it. I think I

got it at an aquarium shop from the bulk rocks section and they of course

don't care about accurate names for pretty rocks to toss in a tank ... lol. I

will have to try taking some pictures also of the Green Quartz (?) Spheres I

have, that have with phantoms all through them and post them.

Yes, ReNau, it is a huge piece of petrified wood-have not even tried

to move that one-I am sure it is bigger than I think it is beneath

ground. Two of the pieces of green stone are more oily/slick looking

and seem to have broken in a different way-the flat one has a dry

texture, and even though it basically seems the same at a glance, it

seems granite-like in texture where the other two are waxy, jade-like.

But Peggy, I can appreciate the comment about a mica-like inclusion

because this is why they had that lepidolite flake feel to me. I just

love to look at them. I would love to see your pics, Peggy, if you

find them. Brenda

Hi Brenda,

I am not good at looking at stones and knowing what they are - but at first

glance your green stones looked a lot like some green calcite that I

have.....just another thought to throw into the mix.

ohhhh...I love another thought! Thanks, Janie! Calcite....hmmmm...when

I have all the suggestions, I am going to have to take my books with

all the properties of each and sit out there and just start narrowing

it down, but I had not considered calcite. I do appreciate all the

suggestions. I would still love them dearly if I never found out. Best

wishes and blessings to you, too, Janie!
