Alone

A sandstone sat in the cool, dark earth, no eyes to see, no ears to

hear, and mourned, " I am alone. " A rumble came, and the earth moved,

the sandstone tumbled end over end to lie in a pile with other

sandstones in the warmth of the sun.

A sandstone sat in the warm, bright sun, no eyes to see, no ears to

hear, and mourned, " There seem to be others with me, but I am still

alone. " A rumble came, the pile moved, the sandstone tumbled side

over side to land in a pile with other sandstones in a place where it

rumbled all the time.

A sandstone slid a bit on a rumbling pile, no eyes to see, no ears to

hear, and mourned, " There are others with me, and something strange is

happening, but nonetheless I am alone. " The rumbling ended in a

great, screeching tumble, then a bouncing and sliding, constantly

moving.

A sandstone bounced and slid, constantly moving, no eyes to see, no

ears to hear, and wondered, " There are others with me, everything is

always moving, chips are flying from me in every direction, why am I

so alone? " The bouncing stopped suddenly, the sandstone began

falling, then hit with a slam and was ground into bits, mixing and

mingling, countless millions of sand grains slid down and down.

Myriads of sand grains slid down and down, flowing like water, mixing

and mingling, no eyes to see, no ears to hear, chanting, " We are not

alone. " This a hissing came, and a slow sinking pouring, then came

great heat, and a melting and melding, a forming and cooling, a

shaping anew.

A crystal sat, pure Light flowing through it, refracting, reflecting

the rays as they shone, having no need of eyes, having no need of

ears, knowing, " We are One, we were never alone. "
