Another place to keep in mind for stone shapes (spheres, obelisks, pyramids)

can be Home Decor shops. Quite a few years ago, Pier One Imports had *desk

accesories* that were made out of stone. Places like this are selling them as

decor and not for the gem quality or their healing properties. So, sometimes

you can get a steal-of-a-deal!

I found a couple of 4 " diameter spheres for 10.00. One I thought was a mix

of rose and milky quartz, turns out it is actually the feldspar variety of

sunstone complete with flash. What really drew me to this piece is the mica

spiral on the one side of it. This is a decent example of the form I am

referring

This one shows the patterns/markings better but the pictures area bit dark.

So the color is not quite true to the stone.

The other is some form of fossil stone in deep burgundy and gray-green

colors. I cannot find an image the even comes close to this one.
