[Chinese Traditional Medicine] Snoring

"Snoring is usually due to Phlegm affecting the Stomach channel and to rebellious Qi in the three Yang channels of the leg. Chapter 34 of the 'Simple Question' says:"Those who suffer from rebellious Qi cannot sleep well and have noisy breathing (snoring), this is due to rebellious Qi in the Bright Yang channels. When the Qi of the three Yang channels of the leg cannot flow down and rebels upwards it causes insomnia and snoring."Giovanni Maciocia, The Practice of , p. 285.)Note: The 3 Yang channels of the leg are Bladder (Greater Yang), Gall Bladder (Lesser Yang), and Stomach (Bright Yang). The 3 Yang channels of the arm are Small Intestine (Greater Yang), Triple Warmer (Lesser Yang), and Large Intestine (Bright Yang).Victoria_______________Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.aspCommunity email addresses: Post message: Chinese Traditional Medicine Subscribe: Chinese Traditional Medicine- Un: Chinese Traditional Medicine- List owner: Chinese Traditional Medicine-owner Shortcut URL to this page: /community/Chinese Traditional Medicine

Snoring is usually only a symptom of imbalance in the

person, which chinese medicine is better at

diagnosing. Sometimes it's accompanied by sleep apnea,

which can point to diabetes. There are other problems

of which snoring is a symptom, and it's better to do a

TCM diagnosis on him to decide what treatment would be

best for him.

Shankur,

Snoring can be a really frustrating thing to do or have done to you. { :).

It is my understanding that snoring can mask a problem named Sleep Apnea and

can be deadly eventually, if not discovered and treated.

Check it out on the web.

Hi Lee,

I know of a traditional Korean medicine that is good for snoring. It's a

powdered herb that is inhaled directly into the nose. After a few minutes,

vast quantities of phlegm are drawn out of the nose. This not only purges

the sinuses and Lung of phlegm but after years of use it can reshape the

nose to a narrower shape. Substantial and non substantial phlegm can disrupt

the body and shape it. I believe phlegm is the next biggest evil to wind.

Unfortunately, this Korean powder is unavailable on the open market, its

hand made by one guy in South Korea.

Alas no. They guy is AWOL at the moment. I want to get hold of him myself,

as I need a supply of this powder. It's also great for cuts or open wounds.

Sprinkle is on and the wound heals a treat. It also comes in liquid form. To

be used externally, its great for skin conditions. When I find him, I'll let

you know.

Watermelon frost spray is Chinese and used internally for sore throats as it

reduces the pattern. This Korean medicine is used externally as a purgative.

I can't see any similarity.

Ok, about 15 years ago, I went to my practitioner with a severe, chronic

sinus condition. He handed me a small plastic bottle and told me to squeeze

it up my nostril and inhale. Well, it was a major religious experience. The

pain was intense and the wall that I banged my head against probably still

bears the mark. Amazing amounts of yellow phlegm ran for about 5 minutes.

When that stopped, he handed me back the bottle and told me to do the other

side. It cleared the infection out like nothing I have ever seen before.

I haven't been brave enough to do this to any of my patients, myself or my

husband again. I was sure it was watermelon frost. My husband said it could

have been Yunnan Paiyao. Looking up both, it doesn't sound like either.

Could this be the Korean Herb or could it be something else?

Hi all.

A good herb for this condition is Bi Yan Pian, 2 cap of 400mg TID.

I have used it myself and at many patients with great sucess in one day.

Treatment should continue for at least 10 days or 30 if it cronic.

Hi all,

This is quite a common problem so I'm really hoping someone can help...

My bf snores which means I end up waking up a lot during the night (every

time he rolls on his back). So this makes me rather annoyed, as you can

imagine. Oh for an uninterrupted night's sleep! I end up being torn between

not disturbing him, putting ear plugs in (which don't really block all the

snoring out, and I then can't hear anything else that goes on which I find

disconcerting - e.g. doorbell or alarm); or I wake him up and tell him to

roll over (so then he can't get back to sleep and we both end up grumpy and

feeling guilty).

I really don't know what to do for the best, as neither of us is 'in the

wrong' but it seems to be an increasing problem where one of us ends up

having to compromise.

Any ideas? My bf isn't fond of crystals in the bed. I have my own on my side

in pouches so I keep them out of his way. But I couldn't put anything under

his pillow. Maybe something could go under his side of the bed? Or we have a

window sill behind his head where I could put a crystal...

Thanks in advance for any advice!

We considered that. But we just don't have room. We both work from home and

have offices but there's not enough room for another bed. We don't have a

settee either.

We work strange hours so we don't always sleep at the same time of day, it's

just that when we do we then have this problem :(

I completely know what you mean tho.
