Guest guest
I was given 3 crystals a couple of years ago. I was told that one was sodalite, one, labradorite and the other lapis. I wasn't told which was which. I am not sure if these were correctly identified. The one I thought was lapis does not look like my first lapis and looks more like my sodalite. I also have a lapis and sodalite which I purchased and sometimes get mixed up as they are so similar. I have posted a photo in the album Joy. It is blurry so I will try to take a better one. Thanks, Joy

It seldom happens the other way around. Some people insist that Lapis is just Sodalite with mica inclusions but I do not think so. In my experience with reliable specimens and fine jewelry the base color of Lapis is Royal Blue, a rich warm blue color and the base color of Sodalite is indigo, a dark cool blue. Now I know that a lot of people who are not painters or other wise really into color do not instantly " get " this difference I do have a picture in my photo album of Lapis and Sodalite together The Lapis is in back the sodalite is in front. It is sort of like the difference between the color of the night sky just after full sunset almost like that dark blue butterfly wing color and the color of the night sky at late night on a dark moonless night. Labradorite has blue and/or yellow flashes, iridescence . Guest guest
Thanks, Peggy. Your examples look like my lapis and sodalite. I have a lovely sodalite sphere which looks like a miniglobe. My friend has a smaller one as a pendulum. I just looked closely at the 2 that I get mixed up and it is obvious which is which. Still unsure of these 3 though and I discovered I have another crystal almost identical to the smaller one but I can't remember what it was either. I think someone once told me that it might be moss agate. The person who sent these 3 may have been mistaken. The photo was taken a few years ago with an old camera so I will take a better photo. Guest guest
Joy, Top left, sodalite. Top right, lapis. Bottom, labradorite. Enjoy them!! The more you work with them, the more they will become distinct personalities to you. Love and Light, Cindy
Guest guest
Cindy and Peggy, I posted a better picture as well as some other sodalite and lapis I have. Also one that I received in a " giveaway ceremony " at the summer solstice. I was told it could be amethyst but wonder if it is fluorite. Also a koala which could be either any suggestions? Thanks, Joy , " cindy_midcalf " <cindy_midcalf wrote: > > Joy, > > Top left, sodalite. Top right, lapis. Bottom, labradorite. > > Enjoy them!! Guest guest
Joy, They are beautiful! I love the little koala! I'm thinking your mystery spirit may be lilac amethyst, what they call Rose de France, but it certainly could be purple fluorite, although that is usually more stripey and feels more coarse. Peggy can definitely tell you more Love and light, Cindy , " Joy " <joie.esprit.reiki wrote: > > Cindy and Peggy, > > I posted a better picture as well as some other sodalite and lapis I > have. I looked it up in a couple crystal books I have and it looks to me more like Sodalite. I asked a woman from a local rock shop and she said it looks to her like Lapis. I'm not sure which it is, but I do love it. Stupid question maybe, but how do I go about seeing the picture you mentioned? Thanks, Cherie **************Ideas to please picky eaters. Like I said, I love it anyway, but it's great to finally know which one it is! Cherie **************Ideas to please picky eaters. Watch video on AOL Living.
