Guest guest
Yesterday my sons and I where our walking on an abandoned railway near our home of course like normal I was scanning the ground for neat things to show them. As we where walking I tripped over a rock and when I looked down to see what it was I found a 2 " x 1 " chunk of red jasper veined with quartz. I also found a milky quartz and sever nice green rock that are translucent with banding. So when we got home I pulled out the old rock tumbler, it needs some repairs before we can use it but I am excited to get started on them. Of course when I picked up those stones I triggered my oldest to do the same and we came home with a lot of stones most where just granite but he found a dark purple rock, a bright purple rock several green ones and a pink one with black specks (I think the pink color may just be rust and that the stone is granite but he likes it). My kids are rockhounds and while I was on the phone with my mother-in-law I found out my husband was the same as a kid and of course I am also. What amazes me is I walk that trail every day with them and have never seen the jasper which once I spotted it I can't see how I would have missed it. It was right on top bright as the day and so very different from the other stones around it.
