Guest guest
Does anyone know why grounding stones would give someone a headache? I notice it with hematite and I can't sleep if it's too close to my bed! Then I had a piece of bloodstone with me and a killer headache...then I realized it was also a grounding stone, not just for the heart... Any ideas of why or help? Also, any ideas of how to gradually help so that I can use these stones... combinations? positions? anything? Thanks

The only crystals I have had that happen with (and it was wearing in combination) Amethyst and Lapis Lazuli. Both are strong third eye stones and I wore them at the same time. Wound up with a headache right in the third eye area. I would suggest trying using either of them in combination with rose quartz and/or lepidolite and see if that doesn't help you out. You may have a block in your brow chakra or your crown. Try using a more gentle stone, may I suggest howlite. Howlite is a very gentle stone and it works great to ground me in a very subtle way. I have never used on but a rainbow quartz is said to balance and energize the chakras so you may like to try that. I think that once you clear the block and balance your energy you may find that you can use a more aggressive stone.
Guest guest
Hiya, I know exactly what you mean about the grounding stones and headaches! I used to get this - I don't think I do any more, which is a good sign Hematite is a very powerful grounding stone, so if you're having headaches with grounding stones, you're definitely going to get one with this! I've heard of a few people having headaches with hematite in particular, so you're not alone. I haven't tried bloodstone, but I've been wanting to for ages. Sadly I can't comment specifically on this stone. But it definitely looks like you're having a problem with grounding. Reasons why? My crystal healer says that the energy is being drawn down through your body, and I think because this might be unusual for you (as it was for me at the time) then this causes a headache at the opposite end of the body where the energy is moving from. Hope that makes sense, lol. It could also be a blockage. Do you generally have trouble being grounded? When I had the headache problem I don't think I'd ever been grounded in my life lol! Hematite was the first grounding crystal I picked up and boy did I know about it! The whole world shifted beneath my feet, everything went on the wonk. I felt suddenly drunk, and like everything was slowing down. I felt like I was in a fog, and I had a headache... It was a real heavy feeling. Some people have said that it could be that the hematite I picked up needed cleansing, as I was in a shop at the time, and apparently hematite sucks up negative energy, and I can definitely see their reasoning here. BUT I had lots of experiences similar to this with cleansed pieces of hematite that I bought at the beginning so for me it was just 'the grounding experience'. I was having lots of troubles at the time that were caused by my lack of grounding (pains in my feet/legs, feeling insecure, etc), so this is something I needed to get through. So I worked through the headaches (sitting with the hematite little bit by little bit) and eventually I could wear hematite without these problems. I just went for pure hematite and worked through it, but it might be wise to do as someone else suggested and work with hematite alongside a gentle stone like rose quartz. This might help reduce the headaches but support you through your work. So I think this could be either the result of a shock to the system (you're not used to being grounded, therefore the new energy pull hurts!), or a blockage. Personally I think both need working through, but you can do it gradually. As I said before, hematite is a very powerful stone, so it might be better to work with a more gentle grounding stone instead. I'm not sure what would do the trick, but I'm sure someone here could help. For reference, I also had the headache problem with a blockage in my 3rd eye. Every time I picked up amethyst I got this same headache. Again, I worked with amethyst little by little and eventually I nolonger got the headache just the wonderful benefits of amethyst and an open 3rd eye chakra! (I wonder whether you might also have a blockage here and need to do the same?) Hope this helps and that your headaches disappear soon! Hematite is a wonderful stone to work with once you can get past your barrier.
